  • Comments Thread For: Terence Crawford is The BWAA's Pound-For-Pound Number 1

The Boxing Writers Association of America will be listing on a bi-monthly basis its top-10 pound-for-pound fighters in the world. Terence Crawford tops our first officially voted-on list of boxing's pound-for-pound best, which is selected by BWAA members from respected news outlets and is broken down based on a descending points system, with a first-place vote receiving 10 points, a second-place vote receiving nine points and so on. Ties go to the fighter with the highest submitted ranking, then the one with the most votes at that ranking.

What a joke, it should be left vacant. Said it before, I'll say it again, no fighter has distanced themselves from the rest of the pack

I don't know. I'm not a hardcore GGG fan or Canelo fan but they should be above Lomachenko they have more pro fights with Loma having a 9-1 record it just looks strange with other guys having 3 and 4 times as many fights being listed below him. That's just me I guess??

I agree with Crawford at #1.

Rigondeaux shouldn't be above Garcia or Thurman. Rigondeaux hasn't done a damn thing since beating Donaire in April 2013.

Kovalev should not be in the top 10. He's lost his last two fights including the last one by TKO.

It's also a bit early for Spence. He's only beaten one good fighter. Guys like LSC, Juan Francisco Estrada, and Danny Garcia have accomplished far more.

This list doesn't look half bad tbh. I think Thurman deserves more love though.

I think that Rigondeaux is listed too high and I don't think Kovalev should be on there. If back-to-back losses including a stoppage are enough to oust Gonzalez from the list then the same should go for him.

Switch Mikey Garcia and Lomachenko ASAP! Don't be disrespectful!

The ranking looks about right. Top 3 is fair. I think it's between Loma and Crawford when you factor in overall skill sets and recent performances.

Those two should be 1 & 2 and if you have one at the top you should have the other #2. Maybe they should have waited until December 10th to do it because if Loma beats Rigo that's probably better than Crawford's best win which is probably Gamboa? Gamboa was smaller coming up in weight but not on Rigo's level. Is Postol or Indongo really better than Walters or Russell? I think the answer is no and I think Walters and Russell were tipped to beat Loma by many posters here.

I value wins like Beltran, Burns, Diaz on Crawford's resume and feel it's just a little deeper at this point but I think it's hard to say who is 1 or 2 out of these two.
