Have you seen what guys are making on other platforms with his divisional ranking? I think he should be at least at the 500k line now. He's a top 5 name at LHW.
Idk that it works like that or lil guys would be driving better cars.
This is a asses in seat entertainment business not a how good are you business. Granted you need some skill to be a tip top draw, but you need to have that thing, whatever it happens to be for you, that people wanna pay to see you because of.
And idk that most boxing fans can name more than 2 or 3 about this cat. If people don't know you they don't care about you, if they don't care about you they don't pay to see you. If people don't pay to see you you aren't likely to be getting bigger than $300k paydays.
All this time, I was blaming Main Events! Barerra must be smoking crack! Kovalev doesn't draw big numbers, so how are you going to get paid? Which LHW is a big draw at the box office? Even Ward was not a big draw at the box office, and he retired, so where is Barerra going to get a big pay day? So now you have no title shot, and you're not fighting a top 5 LHW! Hold that!
yeah, cause im sure barrera will make a **** tonne more money fighting other guys in the division, considering hes such a well known superstar of the sport... or not. Sometimes in boxing you have to take the terms what are offered in order to build up a reputation, its called an investment. If he beat kovalev his paydays would be way bigger in the future. Its not the first time barreras turned down terms, he rejected the beterbiev fight for the same reason. Either hes a ducker, or hes got seriously inflated unreasonable expectations of what he should be earning, neither of which are good characteristics to have.
Let me get this straight. He turns down a higher payday and a way to make a name for himself to fight a lower level opponent for less pay and recognition. Sounds like a horrible move.
the same reason he ran a mile after ducking beterbiev, complaining about money and then pulled out of the fight and fought a bum for less money lmao
Even Beterbeiv wants to get away from his own management so that's probably not the best example.
I do think he avoided it because he's finally got some momentum and he doesn't want to risk it on a scary mfkr like Kovalev. Shame, because it would be a good comeback fight for Kovalev.
Barrera can't pick and choose, and expect people to shell out big money for him. That works for some boxers. Boxers with personalities though. Barrera has no selling point and he's not taking the chances needed to build a rep.
