Diego... wether they need the money or legacy more, is irrelevant in this situation. Boxing is called the hurt business for a reason, your next fight can be your last at any moment. Why would any boxer not put money as their number one priority in regards to fighting over anything else including legacy? Specially a mid 30's guy who may never be able l fight in another fight as big as Canelo.... let me guess, you are one of the many ggg fans that believed him when he said he wanted legacy and not business fights??? Of course money is the first consideration, no one is going to get in the ring for free. Did I say otherwise? Both guys are going to get paid well, incredibly well in a rematch.

What I said was both guys need this fight from a legacy standpoint. They know they can both make money in other fights, obviously Canelo a lot more. But they are athletes and top ones at that. Legacy matters. I think the principal reason Canelo will get back in the ring vs. Canelo is for his legacy. He's got money and he'll make money against other opponents, but I think he knows if he doesn't fight Golovkin he'll never live that down as a boxer. Since he is really the only one who can make this fight it is on him.

Whatever the case I think the odds of Golovkin fighting before May are fairly slim as much as I don't like that.
