People talk about GGG's defense on the Canelo fight...hes NEVER had any defense ! Not in 6-7 fights I've seen!

He takes punches flush, shakes his head, and keeps coming, it's his gimmick!

A lot of casuals on here who think ggg has no defense. Sad.

Its a strange one he has great defense at times and other times not so great would you say it comes down to either feeling an opponents power in a sado masochistic way. with his flush punch eating abilities but at the same time referencing the Lemieux and Jacobs fight he barely had a scratch on his face so defense is there but subtlety. I notice the slight movement s of his gloves as the punch lands he catches most of the shot but gets hit glancingy taking most of the sting out the punch, however watching fights live I struggle to pick up on his subtle movements until I rewatch the fight and realise **** gggs defense is actually counterintuitive becuase judges watching the fight score punches upon watching the second time you can see hardly anything land clean other then arms gloves.
Excuse my whole post I struggle typing on my phone I have the misfortune of having shaquille o neales hand size coupled with a 4.5 inch phone screen diabolical combination constantly retyping **** misspelling etc

Lol at those using visible facial damage as the ONLY criteria for judging the winner of the bout. The following things could happen:

            1) One boxer's cut man in his corner can be better than the other boxer's cut man. Thus, being able to clean up the visible facial damage, not leaving it exposed like the other boxer's face which may subsequently look worse. Even though the boxer with the cleaner looking face could've had more damage or just as much damage.

            2) Damage can be exacerbated or caused by non-punches such as head clashes. Thus, damage inflicted like that doesn't warrant any credit.

            3) One boxer might be more easily prone to getting damaged. Could be because that said boxer might already have facial damage before the bout. Or because the skin is more susceptible. Thus, if that boxer has a more damaged looking face after the bout, it doesn't necessarily mean that the boxer's opponent inflicted more damage than vice versa.

Furthermore, if a single punch causes the damage in a single round, but the opponent of the boxer who landed the single punch to cause the damage, lands other punches more frequently that is effective (snapping the head back, forcing opponent to retreat and etc), then that boxer is more worthy of winning that particular round.

Also, Golovkin has one of the greatest defense for a KO artist. Very few KO artists are as defensively responsible and sound as Golovkin.
