so based on what im reading ward list of opponents were as follows: tony bellew (ward demanded too much money), frank buglioni (frank turned it down) and callum johnson (HBO and roc nation weren't interested).

Exactly. I'm sure he made a lot more money in that fight than he had ever made before and more than he would have against Ward. Yeah we wanted to see it but if you were him why fight the p4p#1 for the same or less money than you can fight a part-time fighter who hasn't had a good win in over 5 years? No brainer from a business standpoint. Hopefully he retires Haye for good in this rematch.
