Anyway stay retired Ward and Virgil needs to retire also hates overrated.
What is there in retiring "undisputed"? Lol that means nothing in this day and age. You don't go from $5 million purses back to $1 million for a fight that does nothing for your legacy. It's not like he needs paychecks. You guys talk nonsense.

He just hit us with the Maidana. Took his money and went home. Not hard to understand.

If there’s no incentive to motivate in a shotlived career in boxing while you achieve all your goals in the sport. Wafts the use in fighting some 40 yr old step down for peanuts. Ward made his mark already. Like him or not.

Why is money all of a sudden an issue when it comes to Stevenson? Because I'm sure Stevenson would have made him much more money than those guys.
That's just it. Money isn't an issue "all of a sudden". It was an issue with both Kovalev fights. You're right a Stevenson fight would make more money than the Brand or Barrera fight. But that's not saying much. Stevenson does not bring more money than Kovalev. Why? Only a select cache of fans view Stevenson as the best LHW. As such the way Ward beat Kovalev in fight 2 diminished the interest in a Stevenson fight. Like I said....the numbers aren't there. It's not even a ppv fight.

Or...or...he has made enough money to where he can walk away and just commentary. Why do people think fighters fight to prove themselves to fans? Trust like GGG said...this is his job. Everyone works their job until the pay isn't right or it's not fun.

Hunter is so full of it, just like Ward. Steveson/Ward, in Canada... very good money for both. Geez, wish I could say 'no thanx' to a 2-3 mil for a fight. I've worked for me for 30+ years, and it took me no time at all to realize you never pizzaway good money. And a 2-3-4 mil IS good money.

No worries, guy was a diva anyway, who just luved to foul. No great loss to the sport.

                +1

Sounds about right, and I can't blame him. He doesn't recover like he did in his 20s, so he wants to get paid. Smart business.

Plus, we all know how hard it is to book a fight with Adonis.

How is this a surprise to anyone? It's obvious that the lack of big money fights were a big reason why he retired. Blame boxing for this one, since boxing as a sport isn't set up to reward fighters who grind through divisions and clearing them out and/or going for legacy. Fans were busy trying to discredit every accomplishment Ward has as it is so he certainly isn't going to fight for you.

There was no way in hell Roc Nation was going to guarantee a purse that big for a fight that would generate a million in revenue tops at the live gate. They've lost enough money with him lol I think they're done playing in boxing.

Furthermore, they would have to get the card picked up by a network, which in this case would've Showtime. Roc Nation making money from Showtime is laughable to even entertain.

Basically what was said here was, "we wanted Bellew in the UK for $4 - $6 million, but he opted for more money to fight Haye."

Ward might come back if the money is right.
That's why we have purse bids
