Who is the best Boxing commentator of all times?

I found the Larry Merchant thread very interesting. Which leads me to start this thread.
Here is one of my favorites Boxing commentators Howell Cosell I think he was pure entertainment.

In my lifetime I'd go for lampley or merchant although the former is far past his best.

Currently for me it's the black guy who does commentary in Dave. Forgot his name but he actually knows the sport.

All time, watching fights from 60s and 70s it's difficult to argue with cosell or gutteridge.

Larry Merchant is the best color commentator (boxing analyst or whatever his title was) of all-time.

blow by blow it's cosell. he was a one man army. did the whole broadcast.

probably followed by lampley for blow by blow. merchant for color.

always liked bob sheridan as well.

lots of these guys weren't watching boxing in larry's prime and only consider what he did late in his career when he became out of touch and was in his f#cking 80's. at his best the guy was poignant, insightful, funny, and a charmer.

Emanuel Stewart and Gil Clancy were my all-time favorites. I also like Al Bernstein. Back in the Tuesday Night Fight days, Sean O'Grady and Al Albert did a great job. Former HW contender Scott LeDoux was great for comic relief.

For whatever reason i just love to hear RJJ, maybe it has to do with the accent but the way he anaylse in that accent just makes me listen to his insight, especially because he also sees things that the others don't see.

Gutteridge? i'm not sure if it's him, but I think there was another great named Tom Dumphy. Hey Ray Corso...correct me if i'm wrong.

Couldn't agree with you more, and he was just as entertaining broadcasting other sports! But, yeah let's stick to the thread of best commentators.
