No announcement yet.
Would Andre Ward have had a similar / same KO% as GGG if he fought same opposition?

Ward is a skilled fighter but he's not a "knockout artist". He more or less gets in there, figures out his opponents weaknesses and eventually picks them apart. Its unfortunate that Ward's legacy might end with the 2 Kovalev fights. The controversy surrounding the first one didn't help nor did Kovalev's performance in the 2nd one.

Bare in mind that Ishida was never knocked out prior to fighting GGG and GGG not only knocked him out, but kniocked him out unconscious. Ergo, it is a more impressive knockout victory than any knockout feat of Andre Ward, since he never accomplished a feat like that before.

1) Ishida? Macklin? Footage of Ward fighting such a low level of opposition is rare, it may not even exist on the internet, the last time he fought guys that level were in his early 20's.
2) Murray? The guy that couldn't even beat a 35 year old Abraham? Brook a blown up welter? ggg couldn't even KO Jacobs or Canelo.
Dawson, Kovalev, both men never stopped, stopped by Ward. These guys are infinitely better than these men.
3) Brand drew with LHW Champion and hard hitter Badou Jack, also picked up a win over previously undefeated hard hitting Beketmirov. His resume is arguably better than Jacobs. Jacobs has never beaten or drawn with anybody as good as Beketmirov or Jack.
Finally here is footage of Lemieux & Jacobs getting rocked/dropped by
Rios 19% KO ratio & Mora 26% KO ratio
Ward would have a near 100% KO ratio fighting ggg's caliber of opposition. Now tell me how Rios & Mora hit harder than Ward lmao.
Ward's KO ratio is even greater than Fonfara, the only man to stop iron chin-Chavez. There are numerous fighters which hit harder than ggg, Canelo fought him when he was drained, after getting stopped by Fonfara and even he couldn't hurt Chavez.
2) Explain how the likes of Alexander Brand are better than Martin Murray. This is the same guy who was never stopped since or after fighting GGG. Even George Groves (a more proven power puncher at 168 pounds than Andre Ward) failed to stop him. GGG was the only one to stop him. So again, how wasn't that impressive, considering GGG was the only boxer to have ever stopped the previously unkoed Martin Murray?
3) Ward's stoppage over Kovalev was an illegitimate stoppage that happened after Andre Ward landed a low blow. Ergo, it doesn't count. This thread is about legitimate stoppages / knockouts.
4) Chad Dawson is the only one I'll give Andre Ward some credit for stopping. Even though he was weight drained.
5) Lol at Beketmirov. Majority of his wins are against opponents with losing records = bums. Daniel Jacobs beat the undefeated Peter Quillin = better than anything Alexander Brand accomplished in his career. Even David Lemieux is better than Alexander Brand, since he had beaten more top ranked opposition.

Ward would easily beat GGG anybody with eyes and some boxing knowledge knows it, is why Team GGG wanted nothing to do with him.

you see this is why i dont take you seriously. you are using the way he reacted to being hit wih illegal punches as your argument that he was done. you dont think thats going to damage your credibility? you would never say floyd was done after judah did that to him would you? its different how? because the ref ignored the fouls makes it different? thats really your argument? you dont think thats a poor argument? my argument makes a lil more sense than yours. he had already recovered drastically in 20 seconds from when he was hurt so how can you say he was done? he was hit with low blows and the fight was stopped. you are using how he reacted to being hit low as a pretense to stop the fight? thats just so biased and silly
