  • Really good #, Props to both fighters

Canelo right now is the new PPV cash cow which explains why the fight was a draw

I don't think the Rematch does the same #s though

    • Was hoping for 1.5m. The Mayweather fight definitely took a lot of the hype away from this fight, which I think affected the promotion. Being 3 weeks before this fight certainly didn't help buys. If Canelo wants to become a bigger star he needs to start speaking English. I don't know how the rematch will do. Ward Kovalev 2 and Mayweather Maidana 2 did around the same buys as the first one, both first fights were controversial and close in their own right. I think Canelo wins the rematch though.

      • Solid numbers...can't help but think it should have done more considering the Chavez fight and his opponent this time.

Seems like we're getting an idea of the peak figure for a Canelo fight.

I expect the rematch to perform similarly.

Didn't you also give the fight to Golovkin? If YOU thought Golovkin won, and you were rooting heavily for Canelo, why am I the dipsht for thinking a DRAW was unfair?

EVERYONE is "biatching" about the card. It was a bad card and the only people justifying it are the ones that were all in on Canelo winning.

I agree. People just hear that Canelo might get KO'd and buy it on that.

                  • The unfortunate fact is...this is the BIGGEST FIGHT that could be made at this time in boxing, and it ONLY sold 1.3 and the official numbers will probably be lower so it probably only did around 1 mil. So IF ON CINCO DE MAYO WEEKEND, which is boxings yearly showcase...

Yes I had GGG winning 7-5 but there was at least 3 swing rounds if not 4 so a draw should of not been out of the question.7-5 is 1 rounds from a draw. I have to go back and rewatch the fight.
