  • Comments Thread For: Kovalev's Promoter Says it Was Real Struggle To Find Opponent

New York -"The Krusher" Sergey Kovalev (33-2-1, 30 KO's) makes his return on November 25th at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. This will be Kovalev's return to regular HBO and more importantly his return to the ring since suffering his two losses at the hands of Andre Ward (32-0, 16 KO's). But Kovalev's team and promoter feels that there is a lot left in the former unified light heavyweight champion. Even so much that it was difficult finding a return appointment for the Russian fighter.

Sullivan said the fight was offered to him, but the monetary was a joke. If this is true, of course you're going to have a hard time finding a decent fighter.

Considering what Matchroom paid Kovakev in his last two fights. Its safe to say they likely lowballed the **** out of anyone worth a damn.

400K TO LIKELY FIGHT FOR A VACANT TITLE...after his last fight was for like 150k for the opening bout of 3 fights on hbo...lol the fool turned down a main event vs a guy who has been in 2 ppvs and nealry half of a million bucks...and yes they would have made it for some vacant belt likely...this dude claims he wants all the fights then ducks his 2nd highest pay day...what is duck in spanish?

I don't know what Sullivan Barrera was offered, but he definitively called out Kov and they are both under Main Events. Promoters always say a fighter is pricing themselves out when they don't want to make a certain fight happen.... Also, the fake outrage with Vegas is getting annoying. As if bad judges can't travel to NYC. Pssshhhh

So are we supposed to believe that Barerra didn't want to fight Kovalev?
