Why doesent Toney fight for 1.5m?

these are excerpts from a pre fight press conference before Toney/Ruix.


It looks like Ruiz, 33, will make a shade over $1 million for the bout, while Toney will take in about a million even.

Promoter Dan Goossen, representing Toney, spoke after King and extolled Toney as the "kind of guy who would fight for $100 dollars a round to get Ruiz in the ring."

Theres a big difference in fighting Ruiz for a million and Wlad for a million, i would elaborate but its kinda evident why!

Come on man and lets be real. People say that all the time but that doesnt mean anything. The fact is that if Toney got a Mil to fight Ruiz then he should damn sure get more then a mil and a half to figth Wladmire and for anyone to say otherwise is crazy.

People need to stop saying guys are ducking people all the time. This is still a buisness and no one wants to get punked.

Floyd wants to fight Oscar more then anything and they say he can make anywhere from 18 to 23 million but if Oscar only offers Floyd 12 mil for the fight and Floyd says No then people will try to spin it like Floyd is ducking Oscar.

This is a business and Floyd knows what the fight will make and "around" what he should make and the same goes for Toney. These guys arent going to just take what the opponent offers them and call it a day. Toney's getting older and wants big money so if he can fight a guy like Ruiz for nearly the same price as Wlad then why would he do that? E****ally since he knows that a Wlad fight should be for alot more then that

Toney got paid 2.1 for Rahman, why should he make less for a bigger fight.

This fight should be 60/40, whatever Wlad makes, Toney should be getting 40% of the purse.

Wlad probably wants to get paid like 10 mil to Toney's 1.5. That is a joke!

but when you want a fight you dont just turn it down and say "nope,,chump change". you make a demand and ask for more money. toney didnt do this he just simply turned it down. toney knows its a stylistic mismatch and wont fight wlad for any kind of money and I dont blame him. he's 38 yrs old now and still has a chance of getting the rahman maskeav winner

Look, you can say what you want but you know damn well he's not going to turn down some big money at 38. How do you know how long negotiations have been going on? For all we know the Wlad camp couldve said "take this or leave it because we can fight anyone".

i'd look at it from toney's perspective... at his age with the way he's looked lately, how many big money fights does he have left after fighting wlad?? probably none, win or lose(most likely lose).... unless he won and went germany to fight valuev.... so this probaly being his last big payday, he's gonna squeeze as much as he can out of it...

DLT I agree and if ppl think Toney would lose fine but he's not scared and is trying to get paid correctly for the amount of risk's!
