  • Comments Thread For: Joseph Parker May Defend in Japan, Against Kyotaro Fujimoto?

On Saturday night in Manchester, Joseph Parker beat Hughie Fury by a majority points decision to retain his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) heavyweight title at the Manchester Arena. The New Zealander endured a frustrating night and did not look confident ahead of the scores being announced, but the judges scored it to Parker by 118-110, 118-110 with the other seeing it a 114-114 draw.

Thought this was possible after looking at the WBO rankings. Parker wins by brutal destrcution, Fujimoto got put to sleep by Haumono ffs. If they go the US route it probably ends up being a rematch with Ruiz on an Arum ESPN card

        Um ok, wait what?

Hahahaha, I can't blame anyone for trying to turn a quick buck but come on man.

I hope Parker gets sparked by that Asian dude

Lol when I read the article I thought to myself "good on him, make a Quick buck, do something different fighting in a Japan, against an unknown but hopefully reasonable opponent in fujimoto 18-1".. but if the dude got sparked by haumono he's not really national level let alone world level.... haumono is a pub fighter

Wilder also considered Fujimoto i believe when he was in the WBC top 15. Big bucks in Japan. Fans won't like it but Team Parker's bank accounts will...

Japan is probably gonna pay good money for Parker to come fight there.

                  I would take the fight.

From the point of view of Parker's team it's a payday and a chance for an impressive stoppage after a frustrating year. As a fan do i like it? Not really but at least he traveled overseas and beat his mandatory an undefeated prospect. Can't knock him for doing that he has now amassed a nice looking resume compared to most heavyweights. It's all about the AJ vs Pulev and Ortiz vs Wilder fights for now great finish to 2017.
