I wonder what this does for the Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder fight down the road, though?

Hearn wanting to be exclusive content provider for HBO likely means that AJ won't sign a long term deal with Showtime now.
He said thats "years down the line". In the short term his fighters will no doubt sign wherever the best opportunities are. His first show will be tiny. He has a looooooong ways to go to be the exclusive provider to HBO

On a bright note, maybe some of Matchroom's so-called next gen can showcase their talent in the US & vice versa!

I understand that but Anthony Joshua is his biggest bargaining chip.

There's no way he will let AJ get tied long term to Showtime if his goal is to eventually be HBO's exclusive provider.

Eddie's about to realize just how little Americans care about boxing.

The #1 combat sport in the UK is boxing. The #1 combat sport in the US is MMA.

That is because Sky had zero competition for decades.
I'm not familiar with the US but HBO isn't the only game in Town.
                    Showtime is one example

I hope it happens, but at this point, I've been sold this bill of goods one too many times already. Boxing will always have those one or two events every year that cross over into the mainstream but that's as good as it gets.

The sport needs to be organized under a league or promotion (like UFC in MMA) in order to have any sort of significant breakthrough. That's impossible in boxing because of the global scope of the sport.
