Showtime will be fine; HBO is not going to increase it's boxing budget in the near future, Showtime/CBS have committed too much to their boxing franchise to cut their boxing budget, and Eddie Hearn is only looking at optimistically delivering 6 shows in 2018. Compare that to the maybe 25 shows that Showtime/CBS will run in 2018.

Hearn can say what he wants about plans for 4/5 years down the line (whether HBO is still in the boxing business by then is a real question), but a far likelier idea would seem to be that Haymon sticks with his relationship with Showtime, and Haymon/Hearn leverage Daniel Jacobs (and 1-2 other fighters) to gobble up another 5 of the maybe 12 dates that HBO will run.

Between the pay dates on Showtime/CBS, the pay dates that Hearn can get on HBO, the likely coming pay deal from FOX/FS1 (no breaking news, that just seems like the direction that things are going), and the other PBC pay dates, Haymon and Haymon-affiliated fighters are likely looking at 50-60 paid TV dates to work through.
I'm not saying Showtime won't be fine, but it kinda sucks that things were really starting to look up for them & now it seems highly likely they will lose Joshua & they could start losing more PBC fighters which is gonna suck for them & require some rebuilding.

Doubtful Joshua leaves Showtime anytime soon. This Matchroom thing seems very small scale for now
Like Scipio says, Haymon is going to use a couple of these deals to increase market share by grabbing a chunk of the HBO budget. Nothing crazy..

I'd take that bet. They just doubled the Showtime offer in September that Showtime was lucky they had matching rights too. In January they'll have a whole new budget to work with + a deal with Joshua's promoter. The writing is on the wall with Joshau going to HBO.

What happens next time when Showtime don't have matching rights (as I speculate will be the case as you don't usually have a ongoing matching rights situation) + Hearn is with HBO + HBO has more money in their budget? I say he ends up on HBO.

And I say Wilder will be back on HBO fighting him next year unless he gets upset or something f#cks up the Wilder vs Joshua plan.

Problem is HBO has nobody for him to fight. I mean Shyte and Chisora? Tony Bellew? Lol give me a break
The reason HBO makes sense for Jacobs is that the top two MWs are there who happen to be the biggest paydays for DJ. Wilder is at Showtime, which is exactly where Joshua stays..

Who ain't coming to HBO for a career high payday? Who's locked up at HW with some other channel?

IS Wilder legit at Showtime or is he just fighting on Showtime right now cuz thats the PBC way? I suspect the latter is whats up & if its not I've not heard of any contract details or anything like that with virtually any PBC guy that I can think of & certainly not Wilder or any HW. I mean the whole PBC plan seems largely to be based upon being unaffiliated contractually. I mean these cats were all fighting under GBP on a handshake. Why wouldn't they be doing that now on Showtime?

How hard is it for promoters and fighters to make fights people will pay to see?

Very hard unless both fighters are with the same promoter or manager.

They are just wasting their time fighting bums. U become a superstar by beating big names. They don't want to take risk.

It's usually the superstar that doesn't want to take the risk . . .

I think you're reading too much into this. Daniel Jacobs, if his goal to be kept active happens, will fight three times in 2018 (fights against Golovkin or Alvarez will cut shows that Hearn would be responsible for putting on). Add fights for "Big Baby", and you likely need one more fighter to round out the shows for 2018.
