Yes, his mother is korean. But his father is russian. "Gennady" is a russian name. "Golovkin" is a russian surname. "Gennadievich" means "son of Gennady". In other words, his father's name is also Gennady.

Actually I think almost everyone agreed he looked slower against Brook. Why shouldn't he age and decline? Almost every fighter I can think of did so by 35,some long before it.

        1. GG fought cab drivers,****tail waitresses and doormen his first 20 fights.

        2. GG is just now fighting real talented boxers like JACOBS and CANELO and is finding it hard when fighters actually know how to fight.

        3. He has not really slipped much because he never took any punishment with the tomato cans he's faced so lets not use this as an excuse.

It is clear that GGG is much slower now. Just compare his physical conditions when he fought Maclin and Wade. Gennady gets worse since Wade.
You can not ignore that he is 35 already. But his opposition is getting better, it also affects to look bad.

If GGG was the monster everyone thought he was, Canelo wouldn't want an immediate rematch! Canelo could make big money fighting Cotto, but he wants GGG! That tells me that they think they can beat GGG...easily! Cotto is a much bigger draw, and he's signed with GBP! For Canelo to turn that down (an in-house fight) for GGG, speaks volumes!

GG totally blew it! He had a chance to send a message that he was a real top 3 p4p but he didn't make adjustments again CANELO who seemed to fight just enough not to get KO'd. GG MISSED 1 mil right hands and should have attacked CANELO to the body from round 1 but was too afraid to get countered back. His trainer needs his azz kicked for not making the fight adjustments!

He didn't look fast against Wade and Brook, even though GGG beat them. He didn't look in the great shape as he was against Geale or Curtis. You are just a hater.

Coincidentally Brook was the first prime, truly world class fighter GGG faced as a professional. He just happened to be a blown up 147 pounder.

But still he was the first one to give us a true picture of Golovkin's actual ability. Before that we were under an illusion due to him knocking out all the relatively lower level guys he was facing.
