Rumours have it that it was pretty much a shut-out for Golovkin in Khazakhstan. I think there was a Mexican restaurant in Astana where the staff had it for Canelo though.Comment

This is how you get to a Canelo win, by discounting Golovkin's jab and its effectiveness, scoring primarily on power punches. You can do the same in the Ward/Kov fight to get to a Kov win, or Golovkin/Jacobs to get to a Jacobs win.
Its an option - pretty much what Byrd did.
Do yourself a favor and go re-watch the fight with the sound off. And score it AFTER every round. Then come back to me with your card. I don't give a sht about rounds 1-3 (Canelo) or 5-8 (GGG) unless some reason you probably gave GGG rounds 1-3 as well.
I'm interested in 4, 9-12.Last edited by Shadoww702; 09-24-2017, 10:16 AM.Comment

Everyone in Kazakhstan scored a lot of rounds 10-8 for GGG with some even throwing in 12-7 rounds for good measure.Comment

Man almost EVERYONE gave Canelo round 12! AND YOU discounted the EFFECTIVE DEFENSE and the 485 MISSED punches. Listen I gave the fight to GGG 7-5 BUT I can see some who had a Draw or even 7-5 for Canelo... Past that I question their judging.

2 GGG 11-8 Canelo
3 GGG 10-9 Canelo
4 16-6
5 17-5
6 15-6
7 15-4
8 21-6
9 13-5
10 25-12
11 13-4
12 17-09
Canelo has not oulanded GGG in any round, from round 4 to 12 GGG outboxes him by landing twice or three times as much as Canelo

Chavez Sr changed and says Canelo no longer won. Just adding that.
If Golovkin is good to fight I'd hope he fights before May 2018. Saunders and his title seems to be the most logical to me.Comment

Think I saw an estimate that GGG had pulled about $15 million in his career pre-Canelo (I'm assuming this includes endorsements), then Canelo fight was worth $15-$25 million to him, and no doubt the second would be worth similar. - so for sure, the Canelo fights are big ticket for him. But he has enough for the rest of his lifetime unless he has expensive plans (divorce, politics etc), so another Canelo payday a nice-to-have vs must-have.
I'm guessing the negotiation is:
- if Canelo wants to fight May, Golovkin wants to fight Dec (not seeing Saunders as a real threat to the May payday, but reality is there is always some element of risk, but Golovkin willing to take the risk for that last belt)
- alternatively, if GBP wants no risk to a rematch happening, needs to be March
Don't want to see Golovkin wait until May.
I don't want to wait to see Canelo until then.Comment

I don't get the HBO commentary. It was clearly slanted early for Canelo. Then it was about even during from 4-10. Then it went back to being more Canelo. If anything that commentary was more pro Canelo not Golovkin.
I didn't even hear the commentary the first time. Listened to it on the replay.
Lederman's card was for Golovkin and it wasn't ridiculous.Comment
