Holy crap, that's huge, and great news for boxing. And Canelo made way more than $5 mil, guarantee you that.

And rematch, here we come. I actually think GGG is the one with more room for improvement in the rematch, while Canelo has to fight exactly the same way he fought, or else he gets rocked badly 2nd go round, and possibly finished. He doesn't have the gas tank for anything else.

Now we know why ward retired. He could not stand to be a b side to a 2 milly guy like GGG. GGG would have full control of that negotiation for sure. Ward tucked his tail and ran, again.

It the actual tracking numbers were for anything near 2m PPV buys, you'd already have someone from HBO in the public sphere, talking up how well the numbers are tracking.

There has yet to be a single word as to how the event did from anyone at HBO, and the silence is deafening. The Saturday after the PPV is coming up tomorrow, so the inference is that if we don't hear anything by Monday, talk of the fight doing even 1m homes becomes suspect.

yeah people forget the gate which is now one of the largest gates in Nevada history. Passing Floyd/Canelo which did 20m and now behind ONLY Floyd/Manny and Floyd/Mcgregor alltime. You don't get that gate anywhere else but in Vegas. I can't stress this enough the people who say the rematch needs to be in Dallas or some football stadium or say the rematch needs to be in Dec or March? You out your mind you throwing millions away in revenue. Fighting on Mexican holiday's is a gold mine and Vegas will outbid everybody and you charge these insane ticket prices that folks will pay for. Rematch is happening Cinco De Mayo in Vegas again at T-Mobile and both fighters promoters make even more money.

You nuts if you think the fight didn't do over 1m. Golden Boy and K2 have both confirmed that all the numbers are above the Chavez fight which did over 1M. And if Fat Boy dan is true he says he got the info from HBO guys that it might crack 2M. Either he's lying or HBO feels extremely confident if they leaking that info out to the media. No other reason to do it they already sold the fight what do they get out of lying and setting a higher bench mark if they know they can't clear it?

Then it means Golovkin is a good draw as well.

I didn't get the vibe about this fight like I did with other high PPV fights. Usually you'll hear a lot of chatter in the streets from casual fans but not this time. I heard quite a bit for Mayweather/Canelo and a whole lot for Mayweather/Pacquiao and McGregor. 2 Mil might be a stretch.
