Now that Ward's retired, where do you rank him on the all-time SMW list? I say he's top 10.
Andre Ward as a SMW.

Most only passed thru 168 and didnt stay long..He fought most of his career there he is #1 or #2..between him and Calzaghe -
So beating Froch and Kessler, the same Kessler for many years was hated on and called a can killer cause Calzaghe beat him(to discredit Calzaghe), makes you a top 5 SMW? Da Fuck?!!?
Pro race stans exposing themselves just like they did with Pacquiao and catch weights.Comment

SMW isn't like MW or LHW, full of ATGs going back over a century. I figure the top 5 is something like Calzaghe, Jones, Toney, Ward and one of Eubank/Benn/Collins depending on who you prefer. I'd say Benn.So beating Froch and Kessler, the same Kessler for many years was hated on and called a can killer cause Calzaghe beat him(to discredit Calzaghe), makes you a top 5 SMW? Da Fuck?!!?

SMW isn't really a deep division.
It has 3 ATGs that fought at the weight, and ony one of those is an ATG of the weight itself.
Ward did fight at a good time in the divison but beyond Froch, he doesn't have a signature win. He spoiled and fouled his way through Kessler, bored us with AA (Froch did a lot better and won more convincingly) and never gave us the Bute fight.
At lhw..well yall know lolComment

Calzaghe at SMW was hard to beat. I'm not sure Ward would be able to maul him easily because Calzaghe would do a lot of quick work on the inside. Calzaghe might be too busy on the outside too. Ward wouldn't have the power to deter Calzaghe at SMW either.
I think it would be a very messy fight with Calzaghe as the busier fighter and probably winning on points. Although i could see Ward doing the sharper work. I'd imagine it would be one of those fights that really divided opinion in the scoring.Comment
