No way, man. I just re-watched it some 24 hours ago and GGG looked confused as in he didn't really know what to do. He was probably thinking to himself, "Damn, where's my easy work?". This was supposed to be another day at the office for GGG.
Or Canelo maybe thought, "Hell I ain't standing in front of him! If I do he'll wreck me, so f u c k that!" Lol...and GGG NEVER said in his interviews leading up to the fight that it would be easy. He himself acknowledged in his interviews that Canelo was no walk in the park. So I don't know where you get "another day at the office" from....
Canelo won because he conquered his fears (I highly doubt he ever feared GGG. His boss didn't give him the greenlight before) and silenced his doubters by making his boogeyman look ordinary. Remember when he dared GGG on the ropes? I guess that's not "Mexican" enough for the naysayers, huh?
which is it? If he had to "conquer his fears" would mean that he WAS scared, right? According to what you just stated I mean....Canelo has never been one to turn down a challenge, end of story...I'll rewatch the fight to see where he "dared" GGG...and please Amigo, Mexican Style is not hanging on the ropes waiting for the other guy to come in...that's more like Mayweather-trap-setting
As for his promise to K.O GGG, it's professional boxing !! Nothing's wrong with saying certain things to sell tickets. The pressure to score a K.O win was on his boogeyman anyway.
now you and I both know none of that was needed to sell this fight...Canelo really believed he could KO GGG...UNTIL he got into the ring with him, that is...after that, Canelo went from "Fight to Tour de France"...
Many fans aren't boxing fans. They're either lovers or haters of boxers. For the record...YES, Lara RAN. He wasn't boxing. What he did that night was moronic. I wanted to puke !! So, I ain't one of them (lovers & haters of boxers) who thought Lara outboxed Canelo, OK?! Oh..hell no !!!
And for the record, me neither! I had Canelo winning that one
I don't know for a fact who landed more punches but I know for a fact who landed the cleaner, more eye-catching punches. You know, punches that made the crowd say, ooh...ahh... The more telling blows, brah. The **** FOR YOUR BUCKS. Thanks to Canelo, the fight wasn't a letdown.
ooh ahh? Well I heard plenty of that for both fighters, now think about this since we're talking crowd noise and reaction: before the fight they were pro Canelo, after it, they were BOOING HIM...did his "lovers turn into haters"? And if so, WHY?
These two took each others's best shots and none of them went down. So, the same thing can be said about GGG's effectiveness on Canelo. Power wise. Nobody really dictated the pace coz I don't remember any of them being rag-dolled.
oh come on bro...we were doing so well here, hehe! Just kidding.....again, matter of preferences I guess.
Dead even match up, this one was !! The difference? The telling blows thrown & landed by Canelo. They made an impression on me. One incompetent judge ruined everything with the ridiculous 118-110 scorecard. If wasn't for that travesty, there wouldn't have been any controversy.
This was a close fight, a win either way would've caused controversy of some sort, somebody had to have been KO'd for there not be any doubts...
Believe it or not, I wasn't rooting for anybody in this fight coz' I like both guys a lot. Didn't want to see a K.O, didn't even want to see a knockdown. I just wanted to see a good action fight. I'm still pissed beyond belief the right man wasn't awarded a win.
neither man won, neither man lost AND WE GET TO SEE IT AGAIN! Win/win for everybody!
I'm passionate about boxing & I'm still scratching my head, wondering what they should have done more/ better to win. Yeah, this was the De La Hoya-Money May situation all over again. They must've stopped doing what was working for them at a point and it cost them a win.
well they both get to go back to the drawing board to make it better next time!
Yeah, it looks like Canelo has a greater chance of getting better in the rematch. I'll be rooting for that son of a gun in the rematch. I wasn't a fan before but I am now. It's a matter of taste, brah. I love intelligent boxers and LARA ain't intelligent. So, please don't mention his name again to me.
I had Jacobs winning that fight too and I had Canelo 7-5. GGG was hit ALOT in both fights and clean. He also for the first time lost the battle of power shots outlanded by both Canelo and Jacobs in back to back fights. Also was outlanded in power shots by brook until the final round. He hasn't looked good in either of his last 3 fights and get's hit too much and too cleanly. But canelo did something neither Jacobs or Brook did and that's make him miss badly all night. Stop making excuses for GGG he's not what you guys hyped him to be and will lose the rematch as well more convincingly
These are my thoughs. The first 3, 8, 10, and 12 are undeniable Canelo rounds. Just look at it without Jim Lampley and Ledderman. Round 10 Golovkin got schooled as well as 8 but they kept cheer leading. I gave Golovkin the 11th and others he won clearly but there were 2 that could have gone either way. I scored it 7-5 Alvarez.I don't have a problem with a draw because Canelo definitely won 6 rounds but for people saying GGG won 8 or 9 rounds is ridiculous. Especially when they're using compubox to justify these claims.

oh come on, don't insult Lara and his 2 fans! Lol
Agreed mah brother, THANK YOU kindly for the healthy debate, cheers!
Boxers are getting smarter and smarter these days. They rarely do macho **** like giving their opponent free shots. Mayorga was crazy as hell when he shared the same ring with Tito.
Back to Canelo, he ain't ****** enough to throw his future away by standing in front of a puncher like GGG. If I were him, I would have given the Mexican fans the middle finger for demanding me to play "Chicken" in boxing.
Boxing is a mean business and life ain't a game. As for GGG, I know he didn't promise us a K.O win but he was expected to make Canelo his PUTA since he was the boogeyman.
Canelo doesn't strike me as a guy who fears certain guys but in the eyes of the public, he was seen as a scared guy coz' it took him 2 years to tango with GGG. So, by stepping into the same ring with GGG...I interpreted that move as conquering something the public believed as his fears.
I believe the crowd booed the living crap out of the decision. Hey, I don't blame them. I got a little hot too when my old lady couldn't stop yapping when the verdict was being announced. It ruined my good mood.
Hey, it was my pleasure doing all this on NSB. I just had to get it off my chest. Hope you're cool with that.

Yeah, he was a nut alright...but I wasn't expecting Canelo to give him any free shots, just stand toe to toe like had said prior to...but anyway....

lol, I hear ya bro, then with being the case, he shouldn't have misled his fans by implying he WOULD stand in front of him...

I agree with you as far as boxing and life....now a lot of fans were expecting that...I published my prediction on here many times, I did not expect Canelo to be an easy opponent but I thought GGG would TKO him in the 10th.

fair enough and I honestly don't think Canelo is scared of anyone, but he's smart enough to know and be like "damn, one well placed chingazo from this guy and it could be ***** Street for me", hence his strategy....hopefully they both make the proper adjustments for the rematch....

there was another thread on here where someone posted something I agreed with...the crowd booed Canelo bro, most likely for not engaging GGG enough (as promised) and then sounding like a spoiled brat and being delusional about winning 8 rounds of the fight...

I'm always cool with healthy debates and agreeing to disagree when both parties keep it respectable, s h i t, we're JUST fans, THEY'RE the ones up there duking it out!
As I'm watching the replay now....DAMN, GGG is beating the mess out of this clown. NO PHUKKING WAY this diva won more than 4 rounds...she got THAT ASS TAXED!!!!!

Canelo did what he thought was best for him. If plan A is no longer effective then you switch to plan B. Be flexible and adaptable. You're competing at the highest level of the sport so be smart. Promises don't come easy.
GGG has been a disappointment lately. Could've flattened Brook but I still believe to this day he treated that bout like a sparring session. He carried Brook. He was like, "Yeah, everything is so easy now so I just wanna play around".
As a fan & a paying customer, I felt disrespected. Don't treat me like I'm 5. I know you could've murdered the guy inside 2 rounds but why didn't you do it? This what you call a "big drama show"? The hell is that anyway.
Then he fought D.J this past March and he did the same thing again. Treating it like a sparring session. Knock the guy out in brutal fashion. To hell with Canelo!! His mind was definitely on that ginger kid that night though the guy he was facing was D.J
GGG is done, man. I would say he's still good for 3 fights or probably less. Damn, it just hit my mind that he tried to pull a "Mayorga" Vs. Lemiux, Brook & D.J. Free shots for those gentlemen hoping for Canelo to take the bait.
The rematch would be no different that the fight we saw on Sept.16. Expect to see a tactical fight with limited fireworks. It's up to GGG as the aggressor to take Canelo to the deep water but I don't see him fighting like a man who's got the devil on his rear end. He could suffer the same fate Pacquiao suffered Vs. Marquez. I wouldn't call him an intelligent guy but he ain't reckless.
If the crowd really did boo Canelo then it just proves that many fans aren't boxing fans. Not knowledgeable enough about the sport. They don't appreciate the art of the sweet science. They's just lovers & haters.
I was pleased with what I witnessed. A good action fight. If it was an action flick then it would be an intelligent action flick. It makes you think to follow the plot and the motives of the characters.
When you call him lil' g instead of his correct name GGG you brand yourself as a GGG hater and your score card for his fights has no credibility at all. As far as you are concerned if GGG doesn't win by KO then he lost. Canelo got a draw in Vegas but the judges were unfair to him and he really won??????? Get serious, get real. Jacobs said GGG clearly beat Canelo and got robbed and almost every other boxer said the same thing. As far as Jacobs beating GGG goes boxers are always generous to themselves when scoring their own fights. Jacobs thought he beat GGG and GGG thought he beat Jacobs. What a surprise.
For the record he didn't give himself that name it came from 666 but you don't know nothing bout that.......I call him lil g cuz that's where he was exposed (Ward)! I'm not a hater but I wont let the fake s**t ride either that's why I'm here! The difference between us is that you "Don't Know S**t Bout Boxing." Just cuz Jacobs said he won that makes it true? You ******....LOL.
Time line:
1. lil g ducks Ward.
2. lil g looked bad against a welterweight.
3. lil g loses to Jacobs.
4. lil g loses to Nelo.
5. If lil g goes straight for the rematch with Nelo & no fight in between he loses again.
6. If lil g rematches Jacobs he loses again.
7. If lil g fights Jermall he would lose again.
Is it getting through to you or are you still stuck on ******?!?
