Canelo was more mobile than ever before. So what? Doesn't matter. He stood toe-to-toe with Gennady plenty of times, and he also deliberately placed himself on the ropes, several times and beckoned to Golovkin, and he still could barely land a shot. Golovkin had plenty of opportunities to ply his "Mexican style" but Canelo's defense wouldn't permit it. It was a close fight, that everyone should watch more than once, so they can be sure of what they thought they saw.
People who claim Golovkin won comfortably (there are a lot), must be giving him rounds just for coming forward and swinging, albeit at air. Canelo was far more accurate, and I daresay gave Gennady a boxing lesson at times. Alvarez gassed out and his punch output dropped, after the halfway point. After two viewings, I scored the fight a draw: Rounds 1,2,3,6,9, and 12 to Canelo. 4,5,7,8,10 (extremely close round), and 11 to Gennady. No matter who won the round, it was never by far. Again, it was a close fight, in which Canelo didn't do quite enough, and Golovkin wasn't quite effective enough.
