Comments Thread For: Miguel Cotto Exec: Canelo-GGG Outcome Does Not Alter Plans

The controversial draw between Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin will not force Puerto Rican star Miguel Cotto to look in another direction in finding an opponent for the final bout of his career. Bryan Perez, a spokesman for Miguel Cotto Promotions, said that the World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior middleweight champion (154 pounds) is holding firm on his intentions to make one last fight on December 2 and, in turn, acknowledged that the result of last Saturday is an impediment for the Puerto Rican to face Alvarez or Golovkin.

I think canelo still beats cotto and ggg beats him too.

But the way ggg has been loooking lately I would of said ggg murders him but now I think he just beats him by a tko late into the fight.

lol at team cotto alluding to ruling out both fighters when only canelo is unavailable to fight in december. then again he loses to golovkin so they might as well duck him instead of getting KO'd. They need to go out with a win. Mikey Garcia is losable but atleast there is a chance Cotto's size and adequate technique will be sufficient. He certainly wont get KO'd by the lightweight if he survived 12 rounds with Canelo. He also went the distance with Mayweather, who got a stoppage in his last fight (causing brain damage). Nothing else really makes sense for December. James Kirkland would have been great but even that isn't possible after the broken nose fiasco. Margarito? Hell even though Cotto has lost a step, Margarito is a completely washed up can now. This is boxing. I guess thats the fight.

Go f#ck yourself Cotto. Dec. 2 LOL. No one gives a f#ck. Just retire vs whatever bs opponent you can get in the ring or stop with the bs deadline & fight someone real.

I mean legit the best opponent he can probably nail down for Dec. 2 that he'll actually wanna fight anyway would be Margarito so just make that bs fight already & stop talking about GGG & Canelo.

GGG-Canelo rematch is happening in December? The other article with Chepo Reynoso says Canelo won't return until May. What gives?

Lemieux at a catchweight, Matthysse at 150, Brook at 154, Khan at 150, Mikey Garcia at 154, Margarito 3 at 154

Seem to be the only options

Canelo isn't fighting until next year and Golovkin may not budge on coming down in weight. If Cotto fights Golovkin at 160 (which I doubt) it'll be a huge risk for him as he's clearly too small for GGG. The only way I see GGG coming down a pound or two would be because his promoter and him would want another high-profile fight against another big name. I doubt he'll budge, I think there's a better chance of seeing GGG/Saunders, but who knows? I guess we'll find out soon enough.
