Showtime has first right to the US TV rights for Anthony Joshua, with Matchroom Sport having the right to shop the fight were Showtime to decide to pass.
I doubt that the deal is coming due anytime soon, and I doubt that Showtime passes on any Anthony Joshua fight until at least the Deontay Wilder showdown.
Yea see HBO is in the game.
The RING’s No. 1-rated heavyweight will defend his sanctioning-body titles against Kubrat Pulev on October 28 in Cardiff, Wales. And it was announced Thursday the fight will be televised live on Showtime in the United States.
The network held a right of first and last refusal with Joshua after their original three-fight deal expired. And a source told ******.com that Showtime was forced to match a $1.6 million bid from HBO for the rights to televise this fight. That amount from HBO more than doubled Showtime’s original offer.
But when you land a star like Joshua on your network, it’s simply not an option to let him walk across the street. Not if you have designs on being the No. 1 boxing network.
It doesn't really break down where things go from here doe. Does Showtime have matching rights for the next fight to or was this the last one & Joshua & Hearn can talk to whoever?

The next big fight is Anthony Joshua (c) vs Deontay Wilder (c), to unify the Heavyweight division; if they were smart about it, they'd likely look to stage that fight in August (just as the summer is ending, right before NFL/NCAAF starts to compete for eyeballs again, and to take the shine off of the Mexican date). That gets everybody paid (and possibly sets up a trilogy, depending on the timing).
Hearn has no reason to leave any money on the table, but I don't see the sense in messing up the situation.
Joshua fights in October and Deontay fights in November (both on Showtime), you possibly make the Parker fight Anthony Joshua's US debut in early 2018 (in a perfect world, you get CBS to air the fight, to better sinc the fight time with Sky Box Office in the UK), Wilder fights the Stiverne-Breazeale winner shortly after that (not sure if CBS will double dip, but there's always primetime FOX or Showtime), and then you build to the PPV from March through August (keeping the heavy push off until June/July, with the end of NBA season).
Leaving now doesn't make any sense, I'm (especially considering that the only reason that the money for the offer even came free was because Top Rank moved their fighters over to ESPN

Im not even sure that Joshuas next fight is gonna be on Showtime, let alone CBS.
HBO more than doubler Showtimes first offer for the Pulev fight.
And sko knows what Eddie Hearns deal with HBO includes.

It'll likely be on Showtime, which is just fine; my thinking was that, if the plan is to make Joshua-Wilder the biggest nut possible, it'd make sense to put up the money to expose both fighters to as large an audience as possible, in anticipation of the PPV push.
Yeah it looks as if he has some type of deal with HBO I think it will be for certain fighters. The more boxing the better, I don't like HBO Particularly Lampley at all but the more boxing the better! If they're willing to raise their Budget and give us more fights then what Boxing Fan would be against that?

Does it really matter where they fight? I mean it's probable if not an outright fact it'll likely be a PPV anyway with how beastly Joshua has been doing.
