Perhaps the American signing he is talking about is Adrien Broner? Oscar de la Hoya recently said he was trying to make a fight between Broner and Matthysse for end of the year.Comment

Did that change recently? Cuz my understanding was Showtime merely had matching rights for one fight (the Pulev fight) & Joshua is a free agent again after Pulev (or at best for Showtime there is a matching rights issue & HBO will have a whole new budget to work with in 2018 that they'll be looking to spend). There is no long term commitment with Showtime from what I read.
It's an odd thing to notice, but I doubt that Showtime would have Joshua in their promo materials if all he was on was a fight-by-fight dealComment

When the original deal was announced, I do recall reading Espinoza and Hearn talk about the long-term partnership with Anthony Joshua to raise his profile in the US; Joshua's image is already in the quick cuts package used to introduce Showtime Championship Boxing for heaven's sake.

"While a few details and logistics are still being sorted out, we expect to carry that fight live on Showtime," Showtime spokesman Chris DeBlasio told ESPN.
Showtime has a contractual option on Joshua's next fight, giving the network the right of first negotiation and last look, meaning once Showtime puts in an offer for the fight Hearn can shop it around to other networks, including HBO. If another network beats Showtime's offer, Showtime has the right to match in order to secure the rights.Comment

Well his biggest Draw Anthony Joshua is already signed with Showtime who has first rights to AJ fights so not sure he commits to one Network but I'm very excited to see what he does with Matchroom Boxing USA. I think Promoters should get back to that Moto of Networks bidding for Fights instead of signing with any of them. Who does he sign and who does he make the face of Matchroom Boxing USA. Does he do what Schaefer did with David Haye and link up with an established American Fighter/Promoter.
Regardless I think Eddie will do GREAT in the American Market because he has CharismaLast edited by sicko; 09-20-2017, 02:07 PM.Comment

I doubt that the deal is coming due anytime soon, and I doubt that Showtime passes on any Anthony Joshua fight until at least the Deontay Wilder showdown.Comment
