I think Parker's team just wanted to draw media attention to it, so that any foul play will get the spotlight.

Does your promoter need to turn up drunk at the press conference to achieve that though?

Not sure that will be the case considering the furor there has been surrounding all this. You'd presume there will be a lot of scrutiny of the judging for this fight an thus any clear bias simply won't be tolerated.

Was the problem because he's British? or because he's Terry O'Connor? I've not really been following it.

I don't see a problem with it if it's just because he's British. If you go fight in USA against an American, you will generally get an American ref and judges, so what's the difference?

It's a bit of both.

And regarding your second point - you're right. But that doesn't make it okay. Half of the issue here is that way these things operate is pretty bull**** to begin with.
