Turn the rematch down and then what...fight someone else for 2 million he finally got his biggest payday and a rematch will make much more sense money wise

Golovkin has no option if Canelo wants the fight. That's how rematch clauses work, unless he retires.

We all know who won the fight and he put another blemish on Canelo's record. I wouldn't take the fight. He has enough money. Time to fight Cotto or BJS and move on. Let Canelo keep fighting turd after turd. He has nothing to win by taking a rematch.
Look at Diaz vs Malignaggi. Malignaggi complained enough that he got a fair shake in the 2nd fight.

I know Diaz ain't no Canelo and I don't think Malignaggi beat Diaz the first time, but he did something and got a positive result.

GGG and his team need to make a big stink, they'll (the judges) magically get it right when they're under a global microscope.

Wouldn't that only be in the case of Canelo losing then enforcing the rematch clause? Not sure it works when the fight is a draw?

De La Hoya says the rematch clause is valid and will exercise it.

Ahhh cool...although in the first paragraph is says they will execute for a fight POSSIBLY in 2018 lol...if I'm them I'd probably wait till September, let GGG get another year older and a little more shopworn. Canelo has a lot of years left in him, he could be facing GGG possibly 3 times when ally's said and done, no reason to get the guy worn out too early.

You are correct. Canelo wont fight again until May, so why in the world should GGG sit around for 8 months waiting? He could fight Saunders in Dec/Jan to get the last strap, then if Canelo doesnt want the rematch in May (a good possibility) then GGG could fight his WBC mando (Charlo) or he will likely have an IBF mando due as well......

He should go for the unification with Saunders. He was after all the belts anyway. From there, he has Charlo and the Jacobs rematch along with many other fights. He won't get a fair fight with Canelo.

I think GGG cd win a rematch fairly easily, if he didnt go for a knockout and jabbed his way to a decision a la Lennox Lewis. Canelo wd get frustrated and leave himself open, so that wd be the way to fight him imo.
