Comments Thread For: Saunders Now Hoping To Have Unification With Golovkin

WBO World Champion Billy Joe Saunders (25-0, 12 KOs) has reiterated his desire to face Gennady Golovkin in a middleweight unification. Saunders outpointed Willie Monroe Jr. on Saturday night at Copper Box in London, while Triple G retained his WBC, IBF, IBO and WBA 'Super' belts after a draw against Canelo Alvarez at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Would love to see this fight but I really doubt it will happen! Saunders is not serious about it plus Golden Boy will try to make GGG sit out until next year even though they have no plans on doing a rematch! GGG is at his best when he fights at least 3 times per year!

      Nooooo....Billy Joe, THINK man.

Call Cotto and ask 'what weight you want me for a fight in Vegas ?'. He'll say 157, you say ok, and GBP will pay more than Golovkin.

GBP gets their pound of flesh out of that fight, THEN they get to put on a world title fight Canelo v Cotto II for the WBO belt where GBP gets to double-dip as both GBP, THEN they can use the one belt Golovkin doesn't have as a negotiating chip for the rematch, which will be conveniently delayed by a year while all this goes down and Golovkin is another year older.

AND Cotto might bat you around a bit, but he won't decapitate you like Golovkin will.

Saunders is terrible as is the MW division as a whole. Why anyone would want to watch this mismatch i do not know.

Called it, go get that UK money. Then come back and cap it off with a may Canelo fight.

Saunders still wants a Kings ransom for the fight I bet, probably more than half the expected purse while bringing in basically no fans of his own.

We'll see if Cotto is serious, Golovkin may do more for his legacy and pocket book facing him.

What belt mandatory is next for GGG???

I believe Jacobs counted for the WBC?

Probably the winner of the Murata Hassan Ndam Njkam will have to be next??? They'll probably give GGG A couple of weeks to either drop the belt or negotiate???

                Hope he's serious.

I don't want GGG to have to stay out of the ring all the way until next May (at the earliest) waiting for the Canelo rematch. I think fighting Saunders for unification is the best plan in between.

Saunders is **** average and looks exactly like the fighters Golovkin has been destroying before stepping up in competition. So although not a competitive fight on paper, a good fight for him to restart his knockout streak and look like a monster again. The only interest for me is to see if Golovkin can win in brutal fashion like he used to or if his best days are definitely behind him.
