Why is Canelo's defense and body work being ignored?

Probably because from a strategic point of view, its easier to have better defense and pick cleaner shots when your backing away than coming forward. Not everyone has the skills or patience to do so but lets not play and pretend that GGG did not have to pressure and take far more risk to land than Canelo did and deserves less credit for taking risk and dictating the fight.
That's my biggest issue with the current crop of "defensive" fighters, they hardly take risks and think they should be rewarded over someone who constantly had to take risks so the fight could happen. Want credit for impeccable defense, get in the pocket and exchange while showing your defense, don't circle around the ring 2/3 of every round avoiding your opponent, that's not defense, that's stalling the fight.Comment

So Canelo took no risks?Comment

He took some, especially in the first few rounds, but not nearly as much as GGG throughout the fight. He was basically backing away except during his 20 second spurts at the begining/end of each round. If you can bounce around on your toes like he was constantly doing, you've retreated to a safe place, that's not defense, that's stalling.Comment

Then how do you explain that he outlanded ggg in power punches 10 out of 12 rounds? He took some, especially in the first few rounds, but not nearly as much as GGG throughout the fight. It doesn't really make sense to meComment

This fight was closer then anyone could have expected. I had 3G winning by a point, but I could easily see it a draw. Nelo has improved tremendously while 3G couldn't adjust. Both took damage and honestly I can see Nelo winning the rematch. Good fightComment
