He's got really good power, but it's overrated. He relied on an accumulation of punches to stop most of his opponents, and it's easier to land tons those when you have literal punching bags in front of you. At the higher level, not so much.
So was the opposition that bad or is GGG's power overrated at a high level?

After 34 fights Golovkin stepped up to face stiffer competition. Brook was a great welterweight but was eventually cracked by the natural middleweight. Jacobs was and probably is the 2nd best middleweight in the world. And Canelo has shown to be an improved fighter with great skills and a heck of a chin. So yeah I'd say Golovkin's competition has grown recently. He had already proved that he was on a different level so it was about time for him to rise up in competition to test how good he actually is. I'm sure Golovkin can still score knockouts but at this level of the game it gets tougher.Comment

True that. Had Canelo not felt his power he wouldn't have been on the back peddle something you've never seen in all of his previous 51 fights. Golovkin has power but people's standards are way too high. This is boxing. When the best fight the best you have competitive matches.Comment

Canelo took GGGs hardest shot. That right hook on the chin when Nelo was on the ropes. He just shook his head. Not saying triple g doesn't crack, but it's harder to knock out top competition. Look at golovkins last 2 opponents. And by the at ALL GGGs opponents run he still knocks them out. It's the persons chin not their style when they get knocked outComment

Was he in his mid-30's doing that to guys in headgear? The Brook fight was his first fight with 8+weeks of testing & the WBC program was implemented that same summer. He broke Brook's eye socket but never dropped him. A blown up Brook can withstand punches from a natural MW that natural MW's cant? Spence Broke the other eye socket so that leads me to believe there's something going on with the bone around Brook's eye. Jacobs & Canelo both said the power wasn't what they were expecting. He never hurt either one, and Jacobs supposedly had a glass chin. The KD didn't hurt Jacobs. And if you go back and look at that fight GGG was landing flush on Jacobs. I don't think it's a stretch to assume year round drug testing has something to do with his sudden diminishing power. The one thing about power is it's usually the last thing to go.C'mon man that's just wrong..now it's because of VADA? Wasn't he doing the same damage even to mofo's in head gear as an amateur with even more stringent testing? I hate this throwing shade at a fighter in this fashion because it takes away from the first part of your comment, wouldn't better opposition mean they neutralize his power or roll with the punch? Mofo's love accusing people of doping like they suddenly turned into punching monsters overnight. If Malignaggi suddenly started knocking out half of the world that would send up a red flag but this guy? C'mon do your homework. Just as bad and pathetic as mofo's who tried to do the same with Canelo because he started lifting more weights for this fight.Comment

Again, no matter how many times you fools keep saying this, it was not anywhere close to the truth. Experts, trainers, fans and bookies all had this as a 50/50 fight.
That's what you got. Now quit b1tching and coming up with twilight zone scenarios.Comment

GGG has KOs over Geale, Lem, Macklin, Murray and Brook. All world level fighters. On a couple of those occassions he even broke bones lol
Jacobs and Canelo managed to survive simply because they chose to ran. NOt box, not be "slick" but simply run. GTF over it.Comment

Well I guess Golovkin has 0 power, 0 boxing skills, 0 speed, 0 athleticism and has 0 of everything related to boxing abilities. Yet somehow, the guy is still miraculously undefeated and still is the champion.Comment
