Comments Thread For: Gennady Golovkin: Byrd's Bad Scorecard is 'Terrible for Boxing'

LAS VEGAS Adalaide Byrd's scorecard bothered even the mild-mannered middleweight champion who rarely says anything negative. An agitated Gennady Golovkin said in the aftermath of his draw with Canelo Alvarez that Byrd scoring their highly competitive fight 118-110 for Alvarez is "terrible" for this perpetually sullied sport. Kazakhstan's Golovkin believes he won nine of the 12 rounds Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena, though none of the three judges saw it that way.

"I scored the fight 116-112 for Golovkin, and can live with 115-113 at the worst...

As for the fight...two things stand out. Canelo, 27, fought better on the move than I thought he could, and Golovkin, 35, has eroded more physically than I had thought. He had a hard time pulling the trigger even when Canelo was standing there flat-footed in front of him."

Cry baby. Try hitting his chin when you load up on your right hands and not the ropes. Then maybe, just maybe you'll get the result.

These guys are right about that scorecard, but, man, they're really asking for trouble from the feminists, with how they're savaging her...

Absolutely correct. It was a good fight that was overshadowed by a horrible score card from an either corrupt or incompetent judge. She had Hopkins winning over Calzaghe, and should never have been ringside for another big fight. NASC is corrupt for insisting she will be at ringside for future fights after this fiasco. It certainly does leave a bad taste in the mouth of real boxing fans.

£200 on Canelo outright, £80 on Canelo KO & £35 on the draw. I knew for a fact GG wasn't going to win before the fight. All my posts beforehand prove that. Do the maths for me?...

                Canelo round 1,2,3,6,7,8,9,10,11.

117-111 for me. Golovkin career low connect percentage. Failed to put on bigdramashow and failed to even put a dent on Saul.

It was a great fight marred by the terrible scorecard. I am not mad about the draw at all but I thought GGG edged it by a round mainly because of his jab and Canelo only fighting in spurts. I actually thought Jacobs gave GGG a tougher fight and that was due to Jacobs' jab. If a rematch does happen, I don't see how Canelo can adapt to the pressure. This is not like Ward/Kovalev rematch; SOG can easily adapt.

Was GGG complaining about the terrible score cards in the Jacobs fight?
