Who looks better coming off the draw? GGG or Canelo

I don't know many people who were picking GGG by decision in Vegas. The consensus seemed to be that it was going to be either GGG by KO (or 12 rd beatdown w/ multiple KD's) or Canelo Decision. With Byrd and Moretti as judges, a Canelo decision was all but ensured if he was left standing after the final bell.

Let's look at this from the casual fans' perspective... At the end of "the real boxing fight" we got a double **** sandwich: a split draw in a historically significant and p4p-level title fight AND blatant evidence of attempted robbery. So, clearly, there was something going on with the judges for this fight. In this context, doesn't the fact that GGG got a draw against Canelo mean he dominated so many rounds that judges, who had every incentive to score it for the cash cow "A" side, couldn't conceivably give Canelo more than 6 rounds (minus the Byrd card, of course)?

GGG walks away from this with more than a moral victory (from the point of view of the public): getting a draw against Canelo in Vegas means you dominated the fight in the eyes of the paid off judges. Not to mention he keeps all his belts! Also, the whole "Mexican style" debate was a huge theme leading up this fight... was Canelo "Mexican" enough? Who truly embodies "Mexican style"? Well, Canelo survived the fight and fought with hair-t in the 11th and 12th, but he definitively lost the battle for the hearts of Mexican fans to GGG (who fought exactly as he said he would).

I specified "look at this from a casual fan's perspective."

Personally, I had it a close fight to GGG, but even I must admit how miraculous it was that GGG left Vegas with his belts after it went to the cards...

GGG won the fight, a draw means he keeps his belts and Canelo saves some face.

That way everybody takes something out of the result.

It's not the correct outcome, but it could have been a lot worse for GGG on the decsion.

Canelo comes out better even if the fight went to GGG bc Canelo stood in their with a guy that most thought would K.O him . Canelo was also the better boxer ,he didnt win bc he was to passive and let GGG set the tempo and out work him . Even without the draw everyone would still complain who won this and that ,its a fight you can watch 3 times and see 3 different fights .,which is why i mute it .

Canelo will still improve thats why he comes out looking better !

If Golovkin can get a draw in Canelo's backyard, then that's very impressive. Well more impressive than Canelo getting a draw there. I personally thought if it goes the distance, Canelo Alvarez would win.

Canelo would be on suicide watch if he had lost... you throw your title in the trash can and duck a guy for 2 years, only to lose to that fighter? He would have been crucified. A draw makes him look slightly better..

And I'm sick of this narrative of "Canelo's always improving." Canelo looks very much the same fighter as he did in the Cotto fight. And 2015 Canelo was a slightly improved version of the one that lost to Mayweather. Fighting a blown-up lightweight in Khan, a Smith brother, and weight-drained JCC couldn't have helped him develop much..
