GGG' face is so beating up because he was eating too many clean flush punches from the naturally smaller, quicker and more accurate punching Saul Alvarez. Besides, Golovkin has never been considered a defensive wizard to begin with.

He's always patterned his fighting style after the Mexican warriors, who were always willing to eat several punches, just to get in punches of their own. It can be said that GGG's motto is that you have to bring ass in order to get ass.
