Its due to his style. He is very explosive and throws with mean intentions on every shot.

He has to take breaks ir he'll completely run out of stamina. Its always been the downfall of explosive fighters like Canelo. On one hand they are extremely dangerous because of there explosiveness but they usually cant fight 3 mins of every round because they need to take those breaks.

Good point. Imagine a 27 year old GGG against a 35 year old Canelo. It would be homicide. There isnt a single Canelo fan on the planet that would pick Canelo in this arrangement.

Said it would happen. GGG broke him down mentally and physically. GGG staggered him two or three times, stopped him dead in his tracks and I think GGG was taking it easy on him. 9-3, easy work.

I give GGG some credit. He baited Canelo into throwing some huge shots early which he caught some with his arms and elbows. Canelo threw bombs early and you could tell when he missed them even he knew they were sapping him of stamina.

It's his weakness. If somehow he could improve his stamina significantly he could be an all time great.

That's because all three of those cash-generating fighters don't want to be labeled like Floyd.

Yea for sure Canelo needs to up his stamina & that was a problem for him last night. I thought GGG was gonna burn out with him looking like he'd been 8 rounds after about the 3rd round iirc, but he manned up & even exerted more energy it seemed for most of the middle rounds & didn't really trail off til the last 2 or 3 rounds.

If Canelo had just fought 3 minutes of a couple more rounds based on the scorecards he'd have won.

Then again I think people are right in saying GGG didn't throw many body shots & if he had that mighta helped him diminish Canelo down the stretch more & maybe have got the lean going his way to a split decision W or even a late KO.

Valid points on both sides & I think those are the likely adjustments they both can try to make in the rematch.

Chris Eubank Junior even with his deficiency in punching power, beats both Canelo Alaverz & Genneddy Golovkin! (I think Golovkin wins the rematch against Alvarez, and then a massive stadium fight in England or Russia beckons!)...

This is nothing new, he's shown signs of weak stamina for years now. I was shocked that GGG didn't focus on exploiting it as much when Canelo has his lulls and sits on the ropes, GGG was too hesitant, even Floyd let his hands go when Canelo took his breaks.

You can probably train to punch harder or improve speed ever so slightly, but you cannot train those things be something you are not.

Everyones body has limitations, just in different ways.
Stamina is 100% genetic just like punching power and "chin" and almost everything else in boxing. You can't train it. You can run as much as you want you wont improve your stamina much, it's a fact

Stamina was the deciding factor in this fight and appears to be Canelo's Achilles heel. Not sure if can do anything about it for the rematch. Golovkin was relentless and tireless even after taking some big shots. Canelo better wait a couple more years for the next one
