This fight was more of a "boxing" match and an inconclusive anticlimatic splooge of a let down. Wasn't the action fight HBO said was for sure fight of the year. Oh well, atleast we had an action fight in Mayweather-Mcgregor..Last edited by Boxing lives; 09-17-2017, 08:57 PM.

Finally watched it. This is a very hard fight to score. People who rate activity are going to pick Golovkin, and people who rate defense or power shots are going to pick Alvarez. I thought Alvarez took the first two rounds clearly, but after that you have 10 rounds that will swing based on who's style you prefer, or pure fanboyism. I had 3 rounds where I really couldn't figure out who won, because Canelo would land the better shots early, and Golovkin would be outworking him late. I can see wins for either guy as high as 116. I can see a card turned in as a draw. 118 is a bit much, but I wouldn't be freaking out over a 117 either way.
What was clear to me is Alvarez's defence was quite good and he made Golovkin miss a lot. Both guys have iron chins, but Canelo's was not tested nearly as much as Golovkins. Golovkin's chin is very good and he's just a machine that doesn't really slow down. He was able to keep pressuring Alvarez and prevent him from resting too much like most of Alvarez's opponents do. Alvarez didn't have the power to really slow him down, so he had to keep moving, parry and make him miss. Didn't really think he was running. No real time for a breather. Maybe Alvarez just doesn't have middleweight power to slow a MW down. He looked a little bit smaller than GGG. Still landed most of the harder shots in the fight.
Good fight from two good competitors. I'm not losing any sleep over a draw or the cards.

truth be known..... Golovkin may only be the third best middleweight on the planet, behind Jacobs/Canelo
That's just your opinion, friend and yes, you are entitled to it...but I would have to disagree with you as Jacobs has already lost to GGG and Canelo was unable to beat him.

It was not a robbery, that would have only occurred if Canelo had won by a UD.
The two elements for me were;
1) The 110-118 scorecard is nonsensical, how someone gets paid to make such a call is ridiculous.
2) GGG was the aggressor. Canelo had moments and some clean work but overall it was clear that GGG held center ring and controlled the pace / intensity of the fight.
Overall Canelo's work was sharp and clean, but he never stooped or even slowed GGG through the whole fight.
As an effective counter puncher you need to slow down your opponent and make them hesitate with your shots, like Floyd does so very well - he breaks the rhythm of the aggressor. Canelo landed, but GGG just walked through him.
On that basis I believe GGG won the fight, Canelo is used to being the stronger guy and didn't really have a plan B to adapt to the fact GGG was walking him down.
