But Loma winning would pretty much just confirm the bookies' expectations.

Gonzalez, the no.1 P4P, aged overnight at a higher weight aged 30, and Rigo's 37 in this fight, and he's fighting a peak Loma of all people.
        Lol to the bold.

Your observations are on point. My heart wants Rigo to win this, but I just don't see it. And when I read sensible observations like yours, any fantasies seem like just that -- fantasies.

The reason is each guy will neutralize some of the other guy's strengths and both guys will have moments of frustration because they are not used to being neutralized. It will be hard to score and will be back and forth, not in a war manner but in each guy changing up to try something different to see if that works better. In the end, I expect a draw or a majority draw or majority decision with fans thinking each guy won. Do not kid yourself, this is not going to be Lom having his way all the time or blowing out Rigo. Rigo did not accomplish all his has with his kind of skills to be an easy fight for any fighter, period!
I think this is how it might have played out a couple of years ago at 124. Dec 9 at 130, and Rigo at 37, my expectation is that Rigo gets hit by things he used to be able to avoid, and misses punches he would have landed in the past, and psychologically folds from the frustration of knowing he used to have the tools, but they aren't there any more. I expect a No Mas.

            • Happy to see it after all of the back and forth between the fighters and fan bases but we can't overlook the size and age differences. Rigo will land some stuff but it won't have the effect it does at 122 and how will he take the return fire? Not well I imagine

              • Rigo is too small and too old for this fight. Lomachenko by easy KO. Won't be competitive.

Well I hope all his tools are there because I want to see a great chess match with all the pieces in place. I would love it if it turns out to be a draw. Both are just so great and deserve to have both their hands raised.

                  • This is a travesty. Rigondeaux has too move up two divisions. Not fair

Once again you speak the truth. Hoping for the best, but I wouldn't bet on it.
