No, he did not. Normally, G has an extra gear he goes to late in fights. He did not have that gear in the Jacobs fight for whatever reason.

He'll definitely try to box more this fight similar to against Lemiux. Canelo has looked his worse in the Mayweather fight, it's the blueprint to beat him. Not that GGG can do the stuff that Floyd that did but he'll adopt the concept. Keep Canelo at bay with jabs and filler punches, counter his counters, and keep turning him and eventually get him to the ropes. If people expect GGG to come out guns blazing like Kirkland and possibly get put away they're crazy. It's the best strategy to surprise Canelo as well who's expecting him to immediately come at him.

Thank's all for the responses. I too expect a tactical golovkin my only concern is outside influences playing a factor ie judges protecting canelo the current cash cow g's seen as being on his way out. I hope he prevails a winner professional warrior in the ring humble bloke outside if it

Just taking a guess here, i could be 100% wrong

But he isn't going to be tentative when the first bell rings like he was vs Jacobs and Lemieux. He wants to test Canelo's gas tank.

I have a similar feeling mate someone else mentioned about filler punches to setup his main attack I think ggg's concentration levels during a fight are underrated I feel he will be testing nelos responses to feint s and seeing if theres gaps for the counter body punch either left hook or straight right level change to reset nelos footwork often enough to frustrate and gas him out I could be wrong though also I feel ggg intentionally headhunted Jacobs to throw nelo off his scent regarding bodywork

Hopefully he moves his head a bit more. I'm also hoping that he goes to the body more because Canelo has great upper body movement.

Also, as good as Canelo is with counter punching, he likes to set himself when letting off combinations, he doesn't exactly punch on the move when going backwards. I could see GGG using the jab and movement and not allowing Canelo to really set himself to counter back.
Canelo has a beautiful counter over the jab and even though he needs to set himself, I don't think Golovkin is fast enough to take advantage of that. The only way he could is to wade through it to dish out punishment.

Judges better get it right with all the talk of "This fight is good for boxing" *****. If GGG beats Canelo in the eyes of everyone and these judges get it wrong then more "Casual" paying fans will leave and the next PPV's will suffer.
