To be fair I can't get my head round that either.
Maybe just macho posturing, or after the haye fight he has the confidence he can walk in there and beat him at his own game.
I read a recent interview where bellew said he'd exceeded his own expectations in the sport and after winning at goodison and being in a rocky movie everything else was like mopping up the bonus levels on a computer game after already completing it and beating the big boss.
So maybe he's just box ticking to find motivation?
Although in the same interview he did mention he was carrying on fighting so his family was secure for life financially, and as you say the octagon is worth less to him than a boxing match so it does seem a bit mental.
