Comments Thread For: Bellew Wants To Down Haye Again To Eliminate 'Achilles Excuse'

TONY BELLEW says a rematch with David Haye could still be on the cards but he's refusing to deal with his old foe. In a thrilling encounter, Bellew stunned the boxing world with a shock 11th round victory over Haye on March 4 this year. The Hayemaker ruptured his Achilles in the sixth round but bravely battled on for a further five.

Well he should, because it isn't an excuse. Tony Bellew looked second best against a shot-to-pieces David Haye. Up until the injury there was no telling which way it would go. If the injury was there before the opening bell then odds are a fit David Haye would make short work of Bellew. This doesn't need to be PPV, and whatever happens, we don't need a rubbermatch.

Let's be real. The injury was no excuse and Hate didn't even mention it in his interview loss whilst congratulating the better man. He did this because he'd know he'd be in $h!t like he was against Klitschko.

However, one things for sure - Bellew couldn't even knockout a one-legged, injured Haye. Haye didn't even react to his punches which just shows you Bellew is not a powerful heavyweight and he's a very average boxer

            It's not an excuse obviously.

That said, a lot of those people saying Bellew got lucky were the same people saying he wouldn't make it out of 2 or 3 rounds. He boxed well at some parts in that fight. Haye looked finished to me though, his timing was way off and he can't seem to extend that shoulder properly anymore, the one he had surgery on.

Haye will always have an excuse no matter what.

Just like Amir "His punches that knocked me out were lucky" Khan.

“He would go to the opening of an envelope. He will go absolutely anywhere," said Bellew who was speaking to celebrate the launch of Papa John's new Deep Crust pizza.
Kind of bad timing to make that statement.

But yeah, it was no excuse. He went into the ring with an injury, looked shot to shit, yet was still in control of the fight.
When he did his achilles he could hardly stand, he did well to try fight back off the ropes. The whole fight changed there.

It's not Bellew's fault what happened. But it changed the shape of the fight. There was no way he could win the fight after that.
