Comments Thread For: Uzcategui: I Hope Dirrell Isn't a Coward - Gives Me a Rematch!

On May 20th, Andre Dirrell and Jose Uzcategui squared off for the interim IBF super middleweight championship. The fight was ordered when full champion James DeGale needed surgery after his grueling draw against Badou Jack in January.

the ibf should be ashamed of themselves for forcing a rematch..
fighter safety is in question with this dude from now on
fighters dont train 8 weeks, 12, or 16weeks for guys like this Uzcat fellow to be able to come in and end there night on some BS..

he hit that man after the bell 2 times and tried to do it once more instead he just laughed and rubbed dirrel's head...screw that..

"fight for our belt and die doing it" - the ibf

any commission/ref should have the closest of eyes on this fools and ohters like him..i'm glad he got punched in the face...

        So fighters shouldn't fight?

So... what happens if Dirrell doesn't give the rematch? The IBF gonna strip him and give the title to 'Scatterguy? And if there is a rematch, what are they gonna do to ensure neutrality? I'm not sure quite what it was but those few weeks seemed to have 3 or 4 really egregious examples of poor judging or decisions - what was it now? Shafikov, Uzcategui and Relikh got screwed off the top of my head, maybe there was another one too.

Interesting point. Had he been fined for that yet? Seems like this is getting swept under the rug due to the uncle's actions. But they don't care about the integrity of the sport unless it's a fighter they don't like. They encouraged Madaina to fight dirty and they still won't acknowledge Margarito as a cheater.

Its a bit sketchy this hasn't been pushed forward yet with some purse bid date or something since the IBF said what they said quite awhile now. That makes me think Andre has no intention of fighting Jose so they'll just end up stripping Andre. Or is there a purse bid date coming up soon that I just haven't heard about?

they should fight within the 3 minutes allowed..not after hte bell has sounded..maybe he needs to learn that while fihgting tune up and not fighting a fight that he rightful lost on the ref's call

and it was the right call the dc commission upheld it...

??? Someone didn't watch the fight. He started the combo BEFORE the bell, 2nd one landed right at bell and 3rd a split second AFTER.

And then Dirrell decided to try out his acting skills and stayed down and QUIT!!!

Andre "I take a knee Dirrell.
