Comments Thread For: Loeffler Expects Comeback: I Don't Think Chocolatito is Done

Tom Loeffler, who co-promotes Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez with Teiken Promotions, believes the one time pound-for-pound top fighter is still capable of regrouping after Saturday's stunning defeat. At the StubHub Center in Carson, Gonzalez was knocked out cold in the fourth round of his rematch with Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand.

Give him 9 to 12 months off, move him down a division. Give him an easy touch to shake off the ring rust and get his confidence a little back in the right direction. If he can't handle a touch up fight well you'll know he's done for good. He is done at the weight he fought in last night and would become nothing more than a resume builder.

He's not old or finished; he's just too small for that weight, specially with his come forward fighting style.

But he 30 doe. 30 is like 210 years old for a Flyweight.

Flyweight fighters actually age in dog years. 1 human year = 7 years for a Flyweight/Super Fly.

Gonzalez is that much greater than people realize, this is a 210 year old Super Flyweight we're talking about.

If he's too small for the weight then he needs to retire.

Dude, did you see him making weight for Arroyo? He needed some suit that looked like baggy plastic grocery bags. And he just about made the 7 day weights limit, barely, using that suit.

You all saying he needs to go back down are ignoring that he was killing himself to make 112.

He can run with it, run with the media, fans sympathy of him being small, and attempt to make 112 again but he will go through hell for it and he won't do it for more than 1 more time. Dude walks around 130lbs, how are you gonna say he belongs at 112? What's he gonna do cut off a leg?

He should fight Vic Darchinyan and then they both call it a day.

Tough call... one he'll haveta make on his own. Basically a come forward with no defense fighter, who supposedly can't make 112 anymore. How's that gonna work? Better strength and conditioning coach? Who knows. Wouldn't wanna be in his position. I'm thinking though, at the most, he needs to stick with only mid-level competition for a while... whether it's 112 or 115. Then decide if his body will ever be strong enough for the elites again.

The only good comment In this thread.

Gonzalez is a natural 112 pounds.

115 pounds is a good weight for him but he has 0 defensive skills
