I don't lie about this stuff or make it up man. I'm not going to mention it if it wasn't true. That would go against my name #True That

Canelo said it and reported it himself that he was about 175 pounds.

Here's one instance where BoxingEgo got it from Canelo's social media and reported on it:

And it was reported on this very site that he said he was about 175 pounds on an article here on Boxingscene, read the very last paragraph on this article:

Plus GGG isn't a swarmer that's gonna move forward and throw uncalculated punches and leave himself open to counters, GGG is a come forward counterpuncher by nature with a great offensive weapon in the almost perfect jab he throws very frequently and consistently throughout his fights. Canelo is way too heavy on his feet to outbox GGG for more than 6 rounds and he's not strong enough to hurt GGG with one shot and GGG won't give Canelo too many chances to counter.

On the other hand I just watched the Jacobs fight and I didn't like what I've seen from GGG, a lot of stuff he couldn't really deal with and he looked faded towards the end of the fight, Canelo on the other hand has been coming to his own in the last couple of fights and he's been looking very very good. Canelo is also the better inside fighter and if he was able to take away GGG's jab and turn the fight into an inside fight all while taking the necessary breathers on the inside that he needs to take, then he should be fine, plus he's the A side so if it goes 12 and it was close Canelo will get the decision.

But then I watched the media workout and despite Canelo looking physically much better than GGG, I felt he was getting winded and that he couldn't keep up a high pace for too long without having to breathe heavily, he looked kind of spent and I think the extra muscles aren't doing his already questionable stamina any favors, GGG looked kinda soft but he looked very relaxed and looked very explosive when he wanted to. All smiles and stuff, so I again switched to GGG. I've never seen Canelo in this kind of fight where he's at a significant size and power disadvantage against a very well schooled fighter like GGG, so as of right now I'm rolling with GGG, but this can change very soon.
I watched the GGG V Jacobs fight yesterday again. The problems Jacob gave GGG, is not something Canelo can replicate. Jacobs had good movement, height, reach and the threat of power & GGG still outboxed him. I had it GGG by 2 rounds + the Knockdown so 3 points.

Golovkins defense is actually pretty good (other than the lack of head movement). He keeps his chin tucked and catches punches on the gloves.

Same day weigh in is no longer needed for unification fights or fights that include multiple titles.

Only fights that have the IBF title alone does the same day weigh in apply still.
There's too much misinformation floating. We're just going to have to wait until fight night to see what happens.

My theory - and it's only a theory - just like everyone's hero Chocolatito got exposed, everyone's other hero Golovkin is getting outboxed over 12, then we're going to hear crap loads of excuses about Canelo's weight. Watch

Why would ESPN and other credible media put out misinformation. This same information was reported on this site as well regarding the IBF.

Terence Crawford and Indongo did not have to do the same day weigh in for the IBF. They were the first two beneficiaries to this change the IBF made.

I'm not referring to media, I'm referring to NSB. Too many people think it's impossible for Canelo to be gaming the system despite the fact that he's not required to account for his weight at any point prior to getting in the ring.

From a non-fanboy, unbiased, honest point of view and opinion:

This truly is a tough fight to say exactly what is going to happen.

Many different things and outcomes can happen.

I believe either guy can win and has a good shot. It's those intangibles and questions that are going to be answered that we don't really know about going into the fight.

I can see scenarios where Canelo cuts Triple G's face up and the fight getting stopped on cuts with Canelo up on the cards.

I can see Canelo focusing on Triple G's body to try to wear him down that way. The problem is Triple G is going to be throwing fire too. So while I think Canelo will get some shots to the body in, I don't think it will be enough to completely wear down Triple G because Canelo is not going to constantly stay there in front of him to take those shots from Triple G. And Triple G will be hitting Canelo to the body as well.

The only way I see a Canelo win by knockout is if it's due to cuts on Triple G's face or something of that nature. A win for Canelo is more likely by decision.

I can see Triple G eventually wearing Canelo out and getting a TKO win in the late rounds.

For Triple G to win by decision it is going to have to be quite clear and obvious that he won. By having a knockdown or knockdowns, staggering Canelo "OR" really dominate at least 9 rounds or more.

The deck is stacked against Triple G when it comes to winning by a decision as we've seen in the past with Canelo scorecards against Trout, Mayweather, Lara and Cotto. Not saying the right guy didn't win, just saying scorecards were ridiculous for those fights.

Which may lead to another scenario where a lot of people may say that Triple G won but was robbed on the scorecards creating controversy and setting up a rematch.

Or we may get where Canelo in the views of many did win and deserved the decision.

Hopefully we can also get where Triple G seems like the winner after 12 by many and gets the decision if indeed he earned it and won in the eyes of many. This kind of thing seldom happens though.

It's because of these many scenarios, intangibles and questions that it is hard for me to predict an outcome on this fight.

How will Canelo fare against his first real Middleweight and that being the best Middleweight? How will Triple G deal with Canelo's hand speed and how much more power will Canelo have at Middleweight? Does Triple G have a chance to win a decision at all? Can Triple G deal with Canelo's skillset? Can Canelo last 12 rounds against Triple G and if he does, which is definitely a possibility in my opinion will the judges be fair, does Triple G have any chance at all winning a close decision if it looks like he was the clear winner in a close fight, they may even score a draw if it looks like Triple G won a lot of rounds. Hopefully it will not be a controversial ending and the right man wins and in the eyes of the fans, people, judges it is the rightful winner whether that be by decision or knockout.

My prediction is I have no prediction. This is a tough fight to call to say exactly what is going to happen.

Let's just hope for the best and may the best man win!

Well, the only thing Canelo and Golovkin have to do is make 160 pounds on Friday.

After that they both can weigh whatever they like on fight night Saturday.

All I have to say is, may the best man win!

Well said. The only weight that truly matter is the official weigh-in.

I just see so many GGG fans lining up the excuses by the boatload. I've heard GGG is old. Canelo is 215 lbs, the ref. Will be biased. The judges corrupt. The pro Canelo fans will sway the fight. Canelo is avoiding VADA and is on PED'S. I'm sure I missed a bunch of other excuses.

The fight hasn't even started and they're lining up the excuses. SMH
