Why did HBO try to convince us Chocolatito was P4P #1?

Excellent fighter, don't get me wrong.

But to me it seems like they came out of left field with him as P4P #1. There was no ascension to the top. Just boom, number 1.

Max and the gang are eating a lot of crow right now.

It's an hbo fighter. They got to pump themselves up. Not much more to discuss really

Bottom top ten. People forget what he accomplished. He was in a division that was too much for him and it caught up to him last night.

He's beaten 2 of the top 5 guys in his 4th division. Not just anyone can do that.

Because he fights on their Network simple as that!

I always said after Mayweather retired the P4P Ranking should've been left Vacant and allow it to sort itself out which it has and Ward has taken the spot to nobody surprise. But yeah HBO just gave the spot to Gonzalez like a week after Mayweather vs Berto on The Fight Game

P4P to me is a fighter who can do EVERYTHING! Roman Gonzalez was never a complete fighter he was all offense and he lived with that sword and died with it last night when he ran into someone, bigger, stronger and better!

Think a large part of it was to pump up the network

Because Floyd had just retired and boxing needed a new #1. Roman was the best out of the P4P fighters at the time, but he didn't deserve to be number 1. Nobody did. Many fans, me included, thought the spot was vacant. It is what it is.

Regardless, Chocolatito is still a great fighter, and a former top 3 p4p guy in my eyes. A future Hall of Famer. Nothing but respect for the guy.

They needed a little man to replace Pac.

I guess for the same reason you talk up your penis when macking a batch - it's your penis.

That said, I can't wait for the GGG thread you make after this coming Saturday.

Because he was / or at least in the conversation

If Ward loses his next fight, it doesn't negate his p4p status of the previous years

If Floyd somehow fights again and loses, it doesn't negate his previous p4p status.

This is basic logic. Chocolatito lost yesterday not before.

So there's zero shame in putting him #1 (even if I didn't agree) because of what happened yesterday.
