Who has better resume right now - Lomachenko or Usyk?

Lomachenko has Walters, GRJ and Martinez as notable wins
Usyk has Glowacki, Huck and Mchunu
Even that washed up version of Huck is still a name, he'd give way more competitive fight to other CWs that night
At this point, Usyk's resume might be a little bit better
Not to mention that it was his best performance to date
Plus Glowacki might be a better scalp than anything in Loma's resume
    Mchunu > Martinez
    Huck > GRJ
    Glowacki > Walters

    Let's break it down.

    Lomachenko:

    belts in 2 divisions: 126, 130

    Best wins:

Nicholas Walters: Was highly ranked at 126. Former beltholder at 126, didnt looked that devastating at 130 and had a long layoff before he fought Lomachenko.

Gary Russell Jr.: Very athletic guy. Future title holder at 126. When he and Lomachenko faced off, he was considered pretty green. Still a good win for Lomachenko, Russell Jr. is a talented fighter.

Roman Martinez: Title holder at 130, when he fought him. Limited, but very tough guy. Was considered a little bit past it due to his wars against Salido.

Jason Sosa and Miguel Marriaga: Nothing special. They are tough guys, but are supposed to lose against the higher ranked boxers.

    Usyk

Krzystof Glowacki: Pretty good win. Glowacki had wins over Cunningham and Huck, who at that point wasnt considered shot. Usyk traveled to Poland and took the belt.

Marco Huck: Honestly, he is beyond shot. Had no answers for Usyk, couldnt manouver himself off the ropes and his offensive was really one dimenensional. But even at that point, he still beats most fringe contenders, but against most of the top10, he cant hang anymore (similar to Abraham now).

Thabiso Mchunu: Tricky guy, good opponent to get rounds in, but doesnt have the firepower to bother the top guys. I consider him a better win than Marriaga/Sosa.

Michael Hunter: Could become decent, but against Usyk, he was way to raw and not experienced enough to hang with Usyk. A little bit similar to Russel Jr., but Russel Jr. is the more talented guy.

    Sorted in tiers:

    1) Walters, Glowacki
    2) Russell Jr.
    3) Huck, Martinez
    4) Mchunu, Sosa, Marriaga, Hunter

Lomachenko and Usyk have a very similar resume currently, but with Russell Jr. he has one quality guy more.

Usyk all day. Huck=Salido and we saw how Usyk handled Huck's veteran tactics

Seems like GRJr became a great fighter after he lost to Lomachenko. I don't recall all this praise for him before he was scheduled to fight Lomachenko

Good post, green k for that

Usyk has the beter single win though.

Walters win had some asterisks that boxing fans love to bring up - Walters inactivity (btw, I don't remember somebody complaining about Postol's 1 year lay off when he faced Crawford), the fact that he never looked that impressive at 130, the fact he had weight advantages against Vic and Donaire. Glowacki was a dominant champ with legit wins and he got dealt with in his own backyard

Huck is a better win than Martinez and maybe GRJ. He's washed up and past his prime, yeah, but that doesn't change the fact he would give other cruiserweights a hell of a fight that day. I mean, GRJ or Martinez doesn't have the same experience as Huck, we're talking about fighter who was dominant champ for several years. GRJ or Martinez never achieved the same status as Huck, he was the man at CW. It compensates the fact that he's shot, experienced veteran is still a better scalp than green prospect like Russell Jr.

The truth is, you see Lomachenko's in p4p lists all the time, but where is Usyk? People won't consider him p4p only because he's CW. When people will start giving the credit to the division?

Some people were hyping him up but you can say the same about every hot prospect out here.

Right now, that investment is ruined, GRJ barely gets mentioned, and barely fights

I mean that mother****er had Dan Rafael telling Russell moves like Floyd

GRJ and Loma were two hot prospects boxing fans were excited about, but nobody knew their true potential at that period of time

Cruiser is a really difficult division to be noticed in. The fact is that it is currently packed with talent.

But for some reason, no-one even considers cruisers in their P4P lists.

Perhaps it is also down to the eye test though. Usyk looks very, very good. Loma looks even better though. The eye test says that Loma is a one-of-a-kind type of special.

The eye can always be fooled though. But it might help explain why people rank them the way they do.
