I don't mind if they're slow if they can crack. I rather see few solid hard punches land than small guys landing entire combos without any effect at all.

There's like a total of 3 decent fighters at cruiserweight.
      You must not follow boxing

Like one poster said already, it's probably the only division where there's a constant American presence.

Must be because once every 6 years or so the 2 best guys decide to fight each other.

WW is a sweet spot for power to weight ratio and speed, they nearly as fast as LWs and can **** near on with MW power.

I don't think my theory is a perfect explanation for why WW is such a stacked division, but it definitely has some merit to it!
True. And in countries where the average height is shorter the smaller weights are popular.

Welterweight is one of the original eight weight classes and is steeped in history.

Something like cruiserweight, on the other hand, is a relatively recent invention (dating to 1979) and for better or worse most people feel that if boxers are that big they should just compete at heavyweight to prove their worth.

Cruiserweight and heavyweight fights are simply more entertaining. Is this a historical thing? Because many greats fought in that weight class so it carried over.
Because of Oscar De la Hoya and cuz the best boxers of all time were welter-weights.

That's funny because I've never heard of "welerweight". Can't be THAT popular.

This. Their size is the size of common people. Plus they dont look super muscled like other divisions.
