    why is welerweight so popular?

It seems to be the most focused weight class and grosses the most money. Why is it so popular?

Cruiserweight and heavyweight fights are simply more entertaining. Is this a historical thing? Because many greats fought in that weight class so it carried over.

prob cause its the weight that can showcase the most skills. theyre not complete midgets like 122 guys, and not just robot monsters like HW. but HW is still a casual fav, just that wlad killed it (in a bad way) for about a decade

I think 160-168 showcase most skill. Fast and stong, medium sized

It's the only division with a lot of American fighters on the top and the shadow of Mayweather and Pacquiao still looms over the division.

Personally I don't particularly care about it, I like the divisions from 160 upwards the most.

It depends what you want to see. I think cruiserweight displays a lot of skill because there is more power involved and you can't give free shots away. At the same time it's not as shallow talent-wise as the HW and you don't see those obese guys or freaks with gigantism. There's still speed involved and fighters rarely gas out. It also covers a very wide range of boxers because of the 25 lbs difference between the lower and upper weight limit.

The only reason why it doesn't get a lot of coverage or interest here it's because there are no American fighters on the top and there aren't any big draws but for a hardcore boxing fan there's plenty of good fights to see.

Cruiserweight is exciting? Are you brain damaged?

There's like a total of 3 decent fighters at cruiserweight.

My theory is that the average person falls within the size range of welterweights. There are a lot more 5'7" to 5'10" guys in the world than there are 6'5" or 5'3" guys, making the competition more fierce at every level in that size/weight range.

I don't think my theory is a perfect explanation for why WW is such a stacked division, but it definitely has some merit to it!

The american thing makes sense, it's unfortunate the americn monopoly that exists in boxing. Only thing about cruisers is they seems to be really sow. Aside from usyk who is a freak
