Comments Thread For: Canelo vs. Golovkin Has Boxing's Future Riding On It

From a pure boxing perspective I'm hoping Golovkin wins just because if Canelo wins its more of a success for the 'business model' approach, ie careful grooming at catchweights, marination etc.
I still think Canelo could be the future of MW even with a loss, but maybe a loss would get him to stop worrying about losses so much (the 'unbeaten except for Mayweather' thing) and focus on being more like Hearns - eat any losses, keep doing the top fights and establish a legacy.
If he beats Golovkin its more likely we see the careful matchmaking and possible catch-weights going forward, eg only fighting Jacobs at 158 or some BS like that, maybe drain Lemoo too, no Charlo, rematch with Cotto etc. Problem is Canelo being the golden goose and being able to dictate the terms of every fight - hopefully Golovkin deflates that balloon a little so we get to see more of Canelo in real fights.Comment

Lubin-Charlo will carry the sport on after Canelo-Golovkin is nothing more than a memory. As long as there are fighters, the show goes on.Comment

Canelo has fought virtually everyone he could, GGG fought a bunch of cans to get here. So if ggg wins, thats the new model...fight cans and build your rep off of fighting nobodys, he ducked ward canelo fought TBE. Karma is with Canelo

If GGG beats Canelo when he just fought "a bunch of cans..."...poor Canelo if he loses then that mean he wasn't at the level of those so called cans...hahaComment

You should really study Hearns résumé before you use him as a career model. From a pure boxing perspective I'm hoping Golovkin wins just because if Canelo wins its more of a success for the 'business model' approach, ie careful grooming at catchweights, marination etc.

Boxing has always been careful match making. Floyd, De La Hoya & Sugar Ray Robinson are the only exceptions. From a pure boxing perspective I'm hoping Golovkin wins just because if Canelo wins its more of a success for the 'business model' approach, ie careful grooming at catchweights, marination etc.

People rooting for GGG because they are against the "grooming/business model" sounds so ridiculous... this is a real fight between two great fighters...
If Canelo wins will people give him the credit he deserves finally?
people still think GGG is past his prime or something because he didn't knock out his last opponent?
C'mon!!!
Whoever wins here is the new King, period.Comment

moronic idea. we live in different times... Someone like Siri Salido that you could say has Eaten a lot of defeats, and he has great, great wins... like when he took Juanma's soul... twice! he does not make near the kind of money GGG or Canelo makes... other than Salido I don't see any other fighter doing any thing like thatComment
