Still a sad story even with the settlement, but good for kids and the medical expenses. They are set for the rest of their lives and can afford better treatment for him now.

I love how the coach is not mentioned as one of the reasons why this happens. Iirc Magomed had told his corner that he wasn't feeling well, it was the coaches duty to take his fighter out of there.

Do any of you disagree that if the coach acted on his fighter's complaints about not feeling well and getting him out of there and treated, none of this would've happened? Sure Magomed would've been called a quitter by fans, but none of those fans pay a dime to boxers when they're in a coma and getting brain surgery.

I read a piece on espn several months back that told about some guy going into his locker room when he was all dizzy and puking to cut off his hand wraps so he could sell them for a quick little profit.

The news of this settlement was awesome to read.

This. Even if Magomed wasn't quite himself in the corner is irrelevant. the medical professionals were supposed to be, get this, medical professionals. A boxer isn't a medical professional, a trainer isnt a medical professional, a cutman might not even be one. The NSAC medical professionals failed Magomed that night.

Permanent injuries are horrible. Glad the russian got some help to live on in a sad way of life. Seems a tragic story. But who gets fired and sent to prison for gross negligence????

Gotdamn. Well respect to his wife I guess. She'll probably put dude in some "home" type medical place & go find her some young **** now. F#cked up situation all around even with $22M on the table now.

Come on man, not all women are gold digging hoes..now if she was married before he was paid, she'll probably stick with him hopefully. He deserves that after giving his health for his family

A lot of these fighters put their life on the line hoping to take care of their families financially. This poor man will suffer his life out, but at least he ended up being able to provide for his wife ad relatives. I hope he is able to at least have some quality of life.

This is a brutal sport...many fighters have gotten equally bad injuries-even worst-and left penniless (Gerald McClellan immediately comes to mind). At the very least he is taken care of.
