Not sure why anyone would think boxers are scared of each other at this level, he's right in questioning why he had to fight two mandatories right away, and he duly made the fight when told he had to because he won a vacant title. At the same time he is questioning why he only got his opportunity a year ago oppose to Lubin who at 18 fights and at 21 is getting a quick shot.

I don't understand why Jermell is acting so surprised! He should've had a deal to fight someone else. Cotto is with GBP, so that fight was not gonna happen anyway!
March 5, 2017:
NEW YORK -- Junior middleweight Erickson Lubin has been on the fast track to a world title fight since he signed a pro contract on his 18th birthday in 2013 and had his first bout a month later. Now he will get one.
Lubin, the 2016 ESPN.com prospect of the year, earned a title opportunity by dominating and knocking out Jorge Cota in the fourth round on the undercard of the Keith Thurman-Danny Garcia welterweight world title unification fight on Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The fight was an official elimination bout, and Lubin will be due a mandatory shot at the winner of the fight between titleholder Jermell Charlo (28-0, 13 KOs) and Charles Hatley (26-1-1, 18 KOs), whose March 11 bout was postponed because of an injury to main event fighter Oscar Escandon.

Lubin is about as dangerous a mandatory as it gets. He isn't a seasoned veteran, just a young hungry lion with all the confidence in the world. This is going to be a real fight! Should be the headliner hands down.Comment

Lubin looks like he been stuffing his face with ribs and hamhocks, he looking a little thick right now,, Charlo always in great top form.. Jermell by TKOComment

He should'nt be wondering about facing two mandos. That has been the WBC's plan since the whole run up to him winning the title. If Andrade had not ****ed up in losing his rankings, he would be in there over Lubin. Jackson then Hatley then Andrade was the WBC's original plan, but now its Lubin. Charlo has no reason to be suprised.Comment

Unless Lara shows his age, this definitely is the better fight on paper! The real question is how did Gausha get a shot at Lara?Comment

Yeah Gausha is pretty basic and really hasn't beaten anyone of note yet. He's got solid fundamentals but I don't see any way he can beat Lara. Nobody he's fought has prepared him for the skill set he is about to face and he doesn't have KO power. He's shown a solid chin so far but he might be in for a beating in this one. I don't see Gausha being champion at 154 so might as well roll the dice with Lara and hope he ages or has some injury mid fight. Gausha wouldn't beat Hurd or Charlo either. Either way we will learn a lot about the intangibles Gausha brings to the table and he will provide more resistance than Yuri Foreman lol.Comment
