Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Canelo-GGG '6-8 Rounds of Hell,' Hagler-Hearns Again

Oscar De La Hoya knows nothing about Canelo Alvarez's showdown with Gennady Golovkin will be easy. Alvarez's promoter still expects the Mexican superstar to emerge from a legendary fight victorious September 16 in Las Vegas. De La Hoya also told ESPN's Stephen A. Smith during his radio show Tuesday afternoon that their 12-round middleweight championship match will remind fight fans of the brief but unforgettable brawl between Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns 32 years ago.

If it's a war, then canelo gets wrecked..

Canelo gotta be like Hopkins was vs Tito, and use lateral movement and jab to neautralize ggg's forward attack. Don't get caught up in a bunch of exchanges, and canelo needs to get off first a lot, and then step off, racking up points. He starts trading with ggg, he gets blasted out

that was Hopkins style of fighting for every fight... come in head first and swing with the hooks, while the opponent is too busy trying to not get headbutted.... as soon as hopkins landed, he would clinch... start all over again... not including the punching while the ref was busy trying to separate the clinch.... he would punch illegally in a way where the ref wouldn't even notice it.... frustrated the living hell out of all his opponents!!!

Maybe 6-8 rds of punishment for Candelita until his corner stops it but other than that, only One boxer is getting punished on the 16th and it's ODLH main lady.

This is the reason why I think Canelo will get stopped. He's going to try and exchange with GGG. I don't think he will move for 12 rounds. I've seen nothing from him to believe he has the ability or discipline to do that. He's looked gassed getting off on guys who couldn't even hurt him (Cotto and Chavez). What makes anybody think he can stay away from GGG for 12 rounds?

My guess is he won't. He'll start out showing movement, then settle down and that will be his undoing. I think he's out of there before 11.

That's exactly what canelo needs to do to ggg. Golovkin much like Tito and pavlik, you know where they are going to be in a fight. They are usually always at their best trying to walk someone down behind a jab and power shots. Canelo needs to steal a page from Hopkins.. movement, quick shots and step off, don't get caught up in exchanges, tie up.

That's pretty much how I see it.. I think canelo starts off fast but 2nd half of the fight, canelo will slow and ggg will slowly build momentum until he stops canelo late with a barrage

Golovkin will be on him every second of every round and methodically he will break canelo down bit by bit ...golovkin will disect canelo and canelo will be cooked by the tenth round ....if canelo could not hurt a cotto his punches will bounce off triple GGG with little effect and canelo lacks the one real thing you need to compete with golovkin and thats foot speed....golovkin in 10 rounds

ggg wins if a war breaks out. ginger's best chance is to move for all 12 rounds he doesn't have the stamina to do so and will he lay on the ropes all gassed out while ggg pummels him. ggg wins either way.
