Oscar is actually correct in the sense that boxing fans deserve (and most of us want) highly competitive fights between the best fighters, but then again, Mayweather-McGregor was not made for hardcore boxing fans. It was designed to appeal to MMA fans, McGregor fans, casual sports fans, and females. Oscar is not wrong when he describes the event as a spectacle, circus, or farce, but he's lying when he says he wouldn't promote that kind of event. He is not jealous of the event, he is angry because he finally gave fans the huge superfight (big drama show) they've been demanding, but it got overshadowed by this event. Canelo-GGG was big news when it was announced, but nobody was talking about it after Mayweather-McGregor was announced. Oscar is like a kid coming home from school, excited to show his A+ report-card to his parents, but when he gets home nobody pays attention to his achievement because his little brother made a cute finger painting. Of course he is bitter.

But everything else you said was pretty accurate.
Mayweather-McGregor, much like Mayweather-Pacquiao, was a once in a generation (possibly once in a lifetime), all the stars aligned, lightening in a bottle event that's gonna be very hard to duplicate. It also doesn't give an accurate view of the public's feelings in the boxing/MMA rivalry, or lack there of.

As for your financial support of Mayweather-McGregor, and lack of support for Canelo-GGG. While having very little interest in the fight, I ordered Mayweather-McGregor. Mostly because of all the big fights we've attended and/or watched at home, this was the one fight my wife wanted to see. If not for that, I wouldn't have ordered it. Probably wouldn't have shelled out the $45 to watch it at the theater. I won't attend or order Canelo-GGG. But I will catch it in the theater. And if it wasn't available at the theater, I'd order it at home. Is this the fight I'm most excited about this year? No. I was more excited about Ward-Kovalev II. And I'm salivating at the prospect of Rigondeaux-Lomachencko. But Canelo-GGG is a great matchup. And if you consider yourself a hardcore fight fan. I don't see any logical explanation for financially supporting Mayweather-McGregor but not Canelo-GGG.
