Where do I get news concerning amateur boxing? Is their an equivalent to boxingscene, but just for the amateurs?
Pro boxing already takes up a lot of time, but now after being very close to the world championship I am interested to know more about the amateur scene.Comment

Amateur boxing just doesn't get the same attention. You'll find the bigger events mentioned on Boxingscene, but that's about it. The following website offers up-to-date results of amateur boxing events.

Any relation to the legendary savon?I'm not especially familiar with all the Cubans that won medals. One of our best, two time Olympic gold medalist Robeisy Ramirez (23), didn't even compete.
Joahnys Argilagos (20) won gold at light flyweight.
Yosvany Veitía (25) won gold at flyweight.
Lázaro Álvarez (26) won silver at lightweight.
Andy Cruz (22) won gold at light welterweight.
Roniel Iglesias (29) won silver at welterweight.
Julio César La Cruz (28) won gold at light heavyweight.
Erislandy Savón (27) won gold at heavyweight.
And yep I know ramirez from the Olympics. I was hoping he would've turned pro by now.Comment

Cong**** to Cuba, good to see them do well
A lot of medals they took home.
Ukraine didn't do so well, they won the Euros but at the Worlds they failed.
Man I'm already waiting for the next Olympics.Comment

Yessir. Erislandy is Felix Savon's nephew.
As for Robeisy, it's not so easy for a 23 year old Cuban to turn pro. I don't know how difficult the current situation makes it for him, but it's not easy. He'll have to do it soon to realize his full potential. Gamboa and Lara were 25 when they defected, and Rigo was almost 29. Any professional sport requires an early start for ultimate success. Boxing is unforgiving.Comment
